Secretary of Defense James Mattis announced a historic nomination from the president on Tuesday.
If confirmed, Marine Corps Col. Lorna M. Mahlock will be the first African-American female to serve as brigadier general, according to the Marine Corps office of public affairs.
Last year, the Marine Corps 'made history' by welcoming its first female infantry officer. The woman, who wished to be unnamed, was the first female to finish training for a military occupational specialty (MOS), which was opened up to women in April 2016.

Congratulations to Colonel (P) as we say in the Army. No congrats at all to having women in the Infantry, a disaster waiting to happen. There is no glory in that situation at all. Or women in any other front line combat unit.

She is not infantry. There was a sidebar to the story mentioning the first woman officer to complete Marine infantry training.
Throughout his career, DJT has promoted capable women to positions of high responsibility. It is nothing new.

Aside from the fact there should be no women in the military: she might be great - she might be terrible - she might be a mediocre quota. And that is one of the big problems with race based preferences - it taints everything good.
