Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell didnt break much news when he acknowledged that Republicans are facing the possibility of a major wave election threatening their congressional majorities. But his public statement was an unmistakable sign that he considers the GOPs Senate majority, once seen as untouchable because of the historically favorable map, under serious threat as President Trumps political troubles worsen.
Leading GOP Senate strategists now worry that Democrats wont necessarily need a perfect storm to net the two seats necessary to win back a majorityjust enough lackluster GOP campaigns and a little bad luck along the way. And while Republicans celebrated Gov. Rick Scotts long-anticipated entrance into the Florida Senate race on Monday, they are clear-eyed about the underwhelming caliber of their candidates in many other critical races.
In Missouri, state Attorney General Josh Hawley has disappointed in his Senate campaign debut, struggling to raise early cash, keeping a low-key schedule, and fending off scrutiny over his ties to scandal-plagued GOP Gov. Eric Greitens. Republicans have been concerned that they could blow a winnable race against Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia if a convicted felon (Don Blankenship) ends up as their nomineean all-too-real possibility. In Ohio, Sen. Sherrod Brown is shrewdly capitalizing on Rep. Jim Renaccis free-trade record to win back the blue-collar Democratic voters who defected to Trumps side in the last election. Sen. Jon Tester of Montana has looked vulnerable, but Republicans arent bullish about the candidates running against him.

oh, widdle Mitchy is scared he is gonna lose his majority!
You should have gone nuclear against the communists in the Senate and stood by Trump from day one of beating all the others in the Republican field! Trusted us, We The People!
Nonsense.
Judging by their utter fecklessness, they want to be the whine and moan and keep getting those perks minority.
At this point things are so bad, I wouldn’t be surprised if a new crop of supposed leftists take over and end up more (or at least not any less) cooperative with Trump than the current GOP - the bar’s been set low mostly by the Repubs...we need a cleanout of the party.
This is what happens when you stand against Trump and his agenda.
And ram thru the largest porkulus bill in history.
McConnell, you are going to get exactly what you wanted and what you deserve - minority status.
Instead, they let him hang out in the wind by himself, with every opponent and enemy, including themselves, attacking him from all sides. Never supporting him and always criticizing him.
Being a Republican voter is like having a bunch of democRATS as our party leaders.
My fear on Hawley is that he isn't ready for prime time. He won the only election he ever entered - attorney general - two years ago. That's hardly a race that attracts a lot of national exposure. Well this one is different. Hawley is going to be national news, and the chance of him pulling a Todd Akin-like flub can't be discounted.
As well they should. You know all those voters who turned out for Donald Trump in your state...well guys...they hate your guts. With good reason.
If these idiots had gotten behind Trumps agenda thay would be on thier way to a 60 seat majority, idiots and traitors.
oh, widdle Mitchy is scared he is gonna lose his majority!
Actually, Im thinking Mitch is scared he wont lose his majority. Its my opinion that he desperately wants to return to his comfort zone which is to his rocking chair in the minority. Hopefully, the good citizens of Kentucky will wake up and vote him out next time hes up for re-election.
Newsflash, Mitch - your majority is not at risk because of Trump - it is at risk because of YOU, your cronies in the Senate, and your TOTAL INACTION to do what we, the people want you to do.
Pay attention.
Someone once said that if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
So I tried and I tried and I tried to think of something nice I could say about Mitch McConnell.
I did come up with ONE thing. Kentucky has probably the nicest interstate road conditions of any state I’ve driven on in the last 20 years, and amazingly, it seems to stay in shipshape condition, all due to Mitch’s pulling strings over the years.
That’s about it.
Apparently dirt bag Ryan is retiring, too. Interesting times we live in.
Just wha the DC UniParty has planned with the Deep State.
No Trump Repubs are running in these “winnable” races. The one good thing about this is where. The Repukes get shallacked they’ll have to run right and will probably end up supporting Trump more.
Donald Trump's appeal -- especially among Republicans -- is often overestimated in a lot of these places.
Should have used it when you had it Mitch...loser.
Good. There is plenty of time to get serious.
Same clowns that said Hillary was going to win and President Trump has no chance.
