They were last known to be in the "Klamath - Redwood National Park area," the flyer stated. Klamath is an unincorporated area in Del Norte County, north of Redwood National and State Parks in far northwest California.
Thottapilly was traveling with his wife Soumya Thottapilly, 38, and the couples two children; 12-year-old Siddhant Thottapilly and his 9-year-old sister Saachi Thottapilly.
The Thottapillys were expected to arrive at a family member's home in San Jose on April 6 but never showed up, San Jose Police Department Officer Gina Tepoorten said.
On April 8, the family member called police to report them missing.
The family was traveling in a 2016 Maroon Honda Pilot with a California plate of 7MMX138.

If anyone here on FR has ever heard of David Paulides, now is the time to ask him or watch his Youtube vids.
Disappearances in the national parks have been going since the country’s inception. There’s one interview he did and this might shock a lot of people: the Park Rangers DO “NOT” (officially) keep a record of disappearances. In order to acquire such information, you have to shell out $50,000 just to find out.
Doesn’t sound good.......................
That’s... not good.
Maybe the police could call Honda and see if the missing Pilot had HondaLink and if it could be remotely activated?
I have read all of David Paulides Missing 411 books. Lots of mysterious disappearances going on out there, especially in Nat’l Parks. Yosemite is a real hot spot for people to disappear and never be found. SAR (search and rescue) crews are baffled by these cases.
A family like that probably has 3 or 4 smartphones. You would think that one of the carriers would know which tower they were last seen on.
“Hopefully, they didnt go off the beaten path and inadvertently stumble upon one of the many Mexican cartel marijuana growing areas.”
I think you may have hit on something there.
Does it make a difference if the phones are on or off?
Scary.
Prayers that the family may be found soon and in good health.
Good to know. He’s the most requested guest on Coast to Coast. Not some UFO or conspiracy guy, plus he’s an ex-cop. The most heartbreaking story I saw the interview was the 8 year old kid where the father turned around for 3 seconds and the kid disappeared. No vegetation whatsoever to block his view and the boy was 20 FEET away from him.
This is about the time of year that certain agribusiness interests move their plants from greenhouses to national park and national forest land. Hope they didn’t wander into a Mexican Mafia garden.
He’s a weirdo. He starts off ok discussing people who go missing in National Parks, then makes it some kind of weird mysticism thing to sell books on Coast to Coast.
The truth is interesting enough without his crackpot mystical magic take on it.
If these things truly exist, why do we tolerate them?
Huge chunks of the west have zero cell coverage.
Weird mysticism? Like what exactly?
Bet the farm on it.
If you ever get the chance, read David Paulides Missing 411 books. He has produced seven of them now. Fascinating and frightening reading. None of the cases are normal cases of someone getting lost on a hike, or drive. A few have even disappeared at scenic viewpoints along roads. Car keys, purses found in vehicle, but they are gone, never to be found.
I have never read any “Weird mysticism” in his books.
