ABC News has learned that Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, is recused from the Michael Cohen investigation.
Two sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News Berman was not involved in the decision to raid Cohen's office because of the recusal.
The recusal was approved by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
The raid of Cohen's handled by others in the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and approved by a federal judge.

Time to drop the hammer...
Rosenstein... You’re Fired!
Chris Christie you are the new assistant AG. Get Mueller under control and limited to his mandate.
Can you point to a dang thing he has done to help defend him, here? Anything.
When it comes to priorities, Holder makes Sessions look like a first year law student.
Honestly...if this is how POTUS is treated by the federal government when his own party controls both houses of Congress why in the hell should any Trump supporter bother to vote Republican in the fall? Why?
The Republicans better get off their fat asses and start fighting for this President or they will be wiped out come November. People who support President Trump are mad as hell and getting madder by the day and handing the GOP a huge defeat in the fall may be the only way they have to strike back.
Our government is so corrupt that it may be beyond saving. Honestly, the only thing keeping America afloat at this time is that there is money to be made, and the business community is doing it's thing - not really caring about government as long as it stays away from their ability to make money. Unfortunately, too many in business also don't care about the sanctity of the nation, and will sell out Americans in a heart beat if they can make more profit. It's a very sad time in history.
As far as Sessions goes, there are really only a handful of explanations for his behavior:
1. He is compromised by something the left has on him. 2. He was part of the plan to protect the swamp all along - and as a swamp member wanted to do this. 3. He is incredibly crafty and stealth - and continues to try to do the right thing behind the scenes. 4. He is incompetent in this position. 5. He has health issues that are affecting his mentation and effectiveness.
Of course, most of those things are not mutually exclusive, and several may be true.
Rosenstein still running the DOJ.
Did he recuse himself or did Rosenstein recuse him?
What exactly does recused mean? He didn’t ask to be recused? If not then they went around him somehow? I don’t get it.
Yes, I bet RosenWeasel approved it. And where was Sessions?
Over and over again we see Rosenstein taking the action while Sessions is recused. Rosenstein is leading the DOJ on all Swamp matters. All of the US Attorneys who are supposedly investigating the Swamp, Huber (Utah), Hiland (Arkansas), and Hur (Maryland), answer to Rosenstein.
Every Obama appointed person or anyone who has worked for Obama and Hillary needs to be recused from any investigation of anybody or anything relating to Trump.
Now.
My money is on Rosenstein recusing him. The article does not mention that he recused himself.
“The recusal was approved by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.”
Hell, he ordered it! Just who the hell is the AG...Rosenstein or Mueller?
It is time for Trump to take action to protect himself.
The swamp is eating him.
Grassley said today that Trump better not fire Mueller. Imagine what all the RINOs think.
The fix is in.
Jeff is either starting his nap now or may have finished it and is “ready for business”.
AL also let us down in 2017 with the liberal “Doug” Jones and much earlier with Mr. Shelby. Yellowhammers may not know best!
Of course he was recused. The only people who are allowed to investigate Trump must have been appointed by Obama “the most lawful”.
