President Trump was instantly tweeting tough about Bashar al-Assads latest atrocity, the gassing of civilians in rebel-held Eastern Ghouta. But Americas response this time should be more than Trumps answer to Assads use of chemical weapons a year ago.
Its time for Washington to declare a no-fly zone in Syria east of the Euphrates, the region Trump freed from ISIS occupation. Assad and his Russian and Iranian allies dont deserve to win the fruits of Americas war there, nor should Turkey be allowed to take its insane vendetta against the Kurds into an area the Trump administration liberated.
If America pulls out, as Trump suggested earlier in the month, the forces who helped defeat ISIS and the civilians they now protect will be at the mercy of thugs just as brutal.

Trumps instincts (voiced recently) are correct. Get out now. If the Europeans want their oil supply protected, they can man up and intervene themselves. If Saudi Arabia and Israel are afraid of Iran, they can form an alliance to defend each other. If Turkey and Iran are rivals, so be it. The region has been in turmoil throughout recorded history and US intervention has only made the situation worse by removing Sadaam who was the buffer between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The founding fathers warned future generations to avoid alliances and foreign entanglements. Since WWII we’ve wasted trillions of dollars and over 100,000 American lives intervening in regional conflicts around the world. What do we have to show for it?
What our leaders don’t seem to understand is if the US returns to its isolationist past new balances of power will emerge to counter China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. The Europeans will have to get involved in the Middle East to protect their energy supply. It is not in the interest of India, China, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, Australia and Indonesia to allow China to economically and militarily dominate south Asia. They will come together to counter Chinese expansion. Europe will also have to defend itself against Russian expansion. Japan will not want a nuclear North Korea next to it and will have to deal with the situation. Iran, without the US (Big Satan) in the region will be focused on Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. If the US goes home, Israel will have to create other alliances or perish. Russia and China are natural rivals. Eliminate their mutual rival (USA) from Eurasia and they will become focused on each other.
American politicians have the US military involved in conflicts around the world yet are unwilling to deploy resources to prevent the ongoing invasion and occupation of the nation across its southern border. Without secure borders for the homeland, it really doesn’t matter what is happening in Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, or China. More US citizens are killed each year by foreign illegal immigrants and refugees than were killed on 9/11. In fact 9/11 would not have happened if the US wasn’t occupying territory in the Middle East and interfering in the affairs with sovereign nations in the region. It is laughable for the elites of the US media and political sphere to be outraged about Russian interference in the 2016 elections when the CIA and US military have been actively engaged in government change around the world by force since WWII.
Bring the troops home. Use them to secure the border. Rebuild our economy and industrial infrastructure. Invest the savings in hardening the infrastructure against EMP and an effective missile defense system. Let other nations deal with their own issues without us.
The Russians, Chinese, North Korea, Iran, and others have no interest in reducing the power of Canada, Brazil, Mexico, or Argentina? Why? Those nations are not bothering them.
I had a NeverTrumper on another thread trying to tell us that we have to support Trump doing the bidding of the NeverTrumpers........
“The Asad government, loathsome as it is, is the recognized Syrian government.”
And we always have that line in about how evil Assad is. Syria was practically a festive free nation compared to Saudi Arabia or Iran or the Emirates.
Women could drive, alcohol was legal. Women could choose a career or divorce. They could wear a sexy bikini on Latakia beach! You could be any type of moslem, a Christian, and there were even a few Syrian Jews left in a synagogue near Damascus. They got to vote. Their leader was an eye doctor who had a leg up in the election, but not a bad dude. The Saudis get a feudal Monarch.
Syria is way more enlightened and free than the Saudis ever dreamed of. So why do we all feel this de rigeur need to qualify how evil Syria is?
It is 1000 times better under young Assad than the best day in Saudi Arabia.
Not our problem. Let’s let Assad win, and the civil war will be over. We have too many wars going on, and this one is not serving our interests.
Erdogan has always had more on his mind than just the Kurds. He is a “Young Turk” and has spoken of reunifying the Turkish Ottoman Empire as it existed before WWI. As I stated I have no proof other than this happened just after the meeting between Russia, Iran, and Turkey. None of them care about Assad and would love to get rid of him and stake their own territory. I threw this out because an obvious story of Assad guilt is being pushed by several goverments, including the US. Nothing is ever as it seems.
no, a better use of air power would be the total destruction of all syrian military headquarters and communications capability
lol
Right. Pure genius. What could go wrong.
So if he -quite logically - sees this pile-of-poo as suspect, he MUST be with the Russians? There's been no verification of this event whatsoever. No facts and no questions asked by our the malingering American media.
Some Americans still like verification and justification before ramping up war machines.
That too un-simple for you?
Interesting, but why then plan a rogue chem attack that keeps the US in Syria? If Erdogan has convinced Poot (and Poot, in turn, thusly convincing Iran) to dump Assad for a fresh puppet? You need the US withdrawn from the battlefield and sitting on its thumbs (in Saudi Arabia lol).

The nice thing about speculation with no facts is that it can’t be proven (or not.) Trump says that he has definitive proof that will come out shortly. In the mean time, his comments in the last few minutes seem to indicate a much larger response than sending over a few cruise missiles. It had the feel that he is about to go to war. God help us all if that is the case. The point of speculation is that they damn sure should be completely comfortable with who did it and be sure of the outcome of a shooting war. This news about the Mueller crap couldn’t have come at a worse time. I pray that the President does not lose control because he is distracted by a BS Witchhunt.
I am glad we can rely on the NY post editorial staff to come up with a bonehead suggestion.
So, if a Russian chopper or plane rises, we are going to shoot them down?
That is so stupid its just hilarious.
Better question: Is there any actual evidence of a chemical attack?
I ask because the video of after the alleged attack shows first responders handling and washing people off with their bare hands and without any breathing equipment.
Much like the alleged ‘nerve gas’ attack in London where uniformed and unprotected police were pictured protecting the ‘crime scene’ and they were just a-okay standing around where a deadly compound was supposedly dispersed just a short time before.
I’m calling BS on all of this.
Yes, this is nuts. Get US troops out of the Middle East and let the Muslims kill each other. There are no good guys there.
Look into the British funding of the so called White Helmets who are staging all this crap. 66 members of the “white hats” identified on social media waving ISIS flags.
This is all bullshit. Assad has already won. Starting an international incident? Yea sure. You would have to be the biggest Beyonce fan tard-merican to fall for it.
It might be time to revisit that film.
At least then Syria would be ruled by the least-loathsome entity.
When did al Qaeda, oops, I mean, "moderate Syrian rebels" become such a great bunch of guys in the first place? Oh yeah, when John McCain said so.
What would have happened if the beast had won.
So the Deep State committed the gas attack? Oookay . . .
