Parents are being warned to look out for signs of scarlet fever in their children, with more cases of the illness reported this year than since 1982, health officials said.
The highly contagious infection mainly affects young children and is not usually serious if treated.

Misuse of antibiotics is probably a factor. A child can be diagnosed with strep and prescribed 14 days of antibiotics, but if the parents don’t administer the full course, the infection can both be passed on and produce secondary outcomes such as scarlet fevers.
Poor hygiene in daycare centers and school likely also contributes.

“We may never know why this disease is making a
comeback”.......
Perhaps, but I would look at the incoming “migrants” as a possible source.

We may never know why this disease is making a comeback.Exactly, the variables are just too complex. On the other hand, Mans activities are the root cause of climate change,... we have consensus.

You dont immunize against scarlet fever. It is strep throat with a rash. There are a lot of diseases immigrants may be bringing in that we have to worry about, but this is not one of them.

...or maybe because parents aren’t vaccinating their kids.

Perhaps, but I would look at the incoming migrants as a possible source.Scarlet fever is mainly on the rise in the UK. If it spreads to the US, it'll probably be from English visitors/migrants. So if they're speaking Spanish, Arabic or Hindi, you're cool - just avoid anybody speaking the Queen's English.

If only there were some kind of medicine that could protect American kids from getting whooping cough, TB, measles and mumps before they're exposed to it! /s/
All of the diseases you mention are preventable by routine vaccination. And all recent outbreaks have been concentrated in un-vaccinated individuals. For example, there have been large measles outbreaks in Amish populations in Ohio. Either they were Mexican Amish... or maybe they were just unvaccinated.

My daughter had this in 82 or 83. She WAS treated. Originally they thought she had rheumatic fever. But decided she only had scarlet fever. All her joints were swollen to the point she could barely move. Her hands didnt look like hands they looked like paws. She couldnt bend her knees. She wore gloves for weeks after the swelling went down to cover the flaking skin. She was out of school for 5 weeks. A very terrible time. Maybe they have better treatments in the 21st century.

The leftists always look back nostalgically at Ellis Island, under the watchful and protective countenance of the Statue of Liberty and a good and beneficial thing. Maybe we should go back to the Ellis Island immigration screening system.

My sister and I had scarlet fever as kids back in the late 1950’s. I got a heart murmur from it.
We were quarantined. I have a memory of people dropping a box of something (probably food) at the door and running back to their car.

There are a lot of “migrants” entering the UK every day. What could go wrong?
