Russia is warning the U.S. against any “military intervention” in Syria over the government's alleged chemical attack against civilians this weekend, saying any such response would be “unacceptable” and lead to the “most serious consequences”.

The foreign ministry in Moscow also says in a statement on its website that allegations of the chemical attack are “fabricated,” suggesting the claims were invented by rebel forces and the Syrian Civil Defense known as the White Helmets.

“It is necessary to warn again that military intervention under invented and fabricated pretexts in Syria, where at the request of the lawful government there are Russian military personnel, is absolutely unacceptable and can lead to the most serious consequences,” the statement reads. “The aim of these false speculations, that have no basis, is to shield the terrorists and the irreconcilable radical opposition, who reject a political solution, at the same time while trying to justify possible armed strikes from outside.”

The alleged attack on Saturday killed 40 in the rebel-held town of Douma, multiple opposition and rescue groups including told The Associated Press, which was unable to independently verify the reports.

It came a year and a day after President Donald Trump ordered dozens of strikes on a Syrian regime air base for its alleged use of sarin gas on April 4, 2017, that killed approximately 100 people, according to the the State Department. More than 30 of the victims were children. The government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denied carrying out the attack.

Maybe a global warming will help their economy too?

And you are then, by this logic, a supporter of Saudi Arabia - a country which uses sharia and bans Bibles. Not exactly a beacon of freedom for the world.

And at this point I trust Trump’s assessment and navigation of US-Saudi relations.

The Saudi prince is on a roll lately. Was here in Hollywood the other day...God only knows his agenda.

I’m not that interested in laying blame. I just want to Stop bombing other countries and focus on America First. This is not the Trump I voted for...

Russia is trying to test and incite a response from Trump. Knowing full well things won’t escalate in any major way.

Notice this was timed just after Trump announced a pullout of our troops.

And your reaction is exactly what they want.

The Kremlin uses Western response to unite Russians and distract them from their domestic divisions and problems.

And also to sow discord within the West, which is war-weary and divided.

My response is about not wanting to bomb more countries. Russia has nothing to do with it.

My response is about staying focused on America First goals. Now we look like Hillary was elected.

I understand. I am merely saying Russia’s goals are more in line with Hillary’s than with Trump’s. Even the Deep State in this country does Russia’s bidding with KGB tactics I may add.

And Russia know their antics are diverting Trump from his agenda. They thrive on the instability. Because sadly, further throwing salt on America’s/Western wounds and divisions is the only thing left in their arsenal given the dead end stagnation their own country is in.

And I just saw your global warming link. The article was written awhile ago. Before sanctions. Before the ruble’s collapse just yesterday.

Its a shame because Russia is wasting/expending much internal energy on achieving geo-political goals rooted in post-Soviet disenchantment and bitterness...all the while neglecting this golden opportunity, particularly under Trump to truly diversify their economy, forge better relations with us, etc...

Maybe later.

Something else occurred to me. What if Trump’s statement about getting out of Syria was a “test” to see if Assad would do something stupid?

People read into statements what they want to believe. April Glaspie made the perfectly innocuous statement that the US doesn’t get involved in bi-national disputes over borders. It wasn’t a green light for Saddam to invade and annex all of Kuwait. But that was exactly what Saddam did. Assad, as someone who inherited his position is likely far less politically-savvy than Saddam was. Trump likes to make black and white pronouncements devoid of nuance. However, every Twitter statement he makes has pages and pages of notional fine print attached, which is why DACA is still in force and the wall remains unbuilt.

But to expect Assad to figure this out is asking too much of him. Syria’s civil war is the result of Assad’s less than perfect balancing act vis-a-vis the jihadis he fed and sheltered during the US occupation of Iraq. Once the American Satan left, they turned their attention to him. He is experiencing blowback of a regime-threatening nature because he’s just not that perceptive a politician.

As to Trump, he doesn’t know foreign policy from a hole in the ground. And that’s not a criticism. People are specialists. The average billionaire isn’t exactly an expert either. Reagan was well-versed in all of this because he spent decades in and out of public service and was a Republican Party commentator. The reason to pick Trump over Hillary on foreign policy was because Hillary “knew” a lot of the background facts that weren’t actually true, and even when they were true, she drew the wrong conclusions from them.

I always remind myself, “Things are never what they seem”.

Especially when Russians are involved.

When Saudi princes and Chinese emperors roll out the red carpet for you,

When the President of France has you as his guest of honor at Versailles and treats you and your wife to dinner atop the Eiffel Tower, closed to outsiders, in your honor,

When your grand-daughter impresses the Chinese first lady with her rendition of Chinese poetry,

When you can make billions of dollars of business deals with people from every nationality, live overlooking the most comopolitan city in the world, have golf courses in Dubai and Scotland bear your name, and taxi drivers from Ghana and Romania read your book and dream of moving to America to one day...

Them you can lecture Trump about “nuance” and “foreign policy”

Till then: sit, watch, and learn.

Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize and a host of other honors from foreign governments, despite being born into a broken family from the outset. He inherited nothing from his family except his genes. Will you sit, watch and learn from Obama? How about Putin, the son of a low-level member of the Soviet security apparatus who grew up to become Tsar of the the Russias? Will you sit, watch and learn from Putin?

Spare me the Trump worship. He was born with the proverbial silver spoon, and lucked his way into his fortune. His big achievement was buying into Manhattan real estate at the right time - when the market was at its nadir, thanks to the moronic efforts of Democratic and Republican mayors from the 60’s onwards. Outside of Manhattan real estate, he has failed at many of his major projects, including Trump University and the Atlantic City casinos. He did well with the Apprentice, but then again, the Kardashians made more money with their show than Trump ever will with the Apprentice. Will you now take political advice from the Kardashians? Pluck those stars out of your eyes - they’re obscuring your vision.

There are plenty of conservative heroes you can learn from - Calvin Coolidge, George Washington, Andrew Jackson and Ronald Reagan. Just don’t number Trump with any of these people, although he’s preferable to any of the Democratic alternatives.

FYI, I’ve been following Trump’s career since the 80’s. How long have you known of the Donald, let alone kept track of his antics?

Not worshipping the man. But defending him. He has been persecuted and attacked and underestimated way more than Reagan ever was. And betrayed by his party.

His peers in the beltway are just jealous. This also applies to the Christian leaders who gang up on him like Pharisees: if they had even just a smidgeon of courage Trump did, maybe the church in this country would be in better shape. Is Trump the holiest man? Hardly. But GOD often chooses the very people the world considers “foolish” or “rebellious” to attain to great heights on His behalf.

Maybe to God, an ounce of boldness and moral courage far outweighs a useless PhD on international political theoretical theological whatever.

Trump shines most in his dealings with different cultures and people. All while maintaining an unabashed patriotism. Precisely because he can see NUANCE while holding firm to *conviction.*

Our economy is already going in the right direction and our diplomacy is being carried out from a place of strength.

Is everything always going to be perfect? No. But we are VERY lucky to have him representing us on the world stage.

It is an undeserved gift from God to us...given how wretchedly our country has behaved.

I pray for him everyday. And learn. In many ways, he is a genius.

And to add: I know history. In a world of Putins, Xi Jinpings, and Saudi oil moguls...Trump is the right guy for the right time.

Just as the other men you mention were tailor fit for their time.

That is false. Reagan was derided as a senile old has-been, never-was actor of limited mental capacity who would get us all killed in a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. And he absorbed all of that with his trademark hail-fellow-well-met good humor, to the point that voters turned against his detractors, such that the Reagan years have far eclipsed the Eisenhower era as a time of prosperity and contentment in the current imagining, despite the highly contentious atmosphere of the era, and the lacerating commentary to which Reagan was routinely subjected.

Reagan still had more political experience, polish, connections, and support from his party. But indeed, he had to face an assassination attempt. Claws were definitely out for the man.

I think the state of our country and govt and alliances in 2016 was a little worse than when Reagan found it. Mainly because of the sorry state of Western Europe/NATO which sort of lost its sense of vision and purpose after Cold War. (But it’s slowly getting better.)

But regardless, he was tailor fit for his time. As was his style and rhetoric. Just as Trump is for ours with his sharp ascerbic tweets and uncensored truthtelling.

But Trump is no foreign policy dimwit. That’s my main argument.
