Trump threatens "Animal Assad," Putin over alleged chemical attack in Syria

WASHINGTON -- President Trump responded Sunday to reports of a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, blaming Syrian President Bashar Assad and his international allies for the apparent attack that left dozens dead and hundreds injured. In some of his most critical comments directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin to date, Mr. Trump threatened that there's a "big price ... to pay" for those backing the Assad regime.

Syrian opposition activists and rescuers said Sunday that a poison gas attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital of Damascus killed at least 40 people. The alleged attack has been denied by the Syrian and Russian governments. Russia is Syria's closest ally and has a major military presence in the country.

Reports of the latest attack which appeared to target civilians and young children could not be independently verified.

The war drums are beating louder and louder in the media. This just screams false flag provocation by those who have lost to Assad. Why would Assad do this, particularly after we cruise missiled his forces from the last alleged chemical attack? Will the deep state intelligent community lead Trump into another attack? Will we get a free shot like last time or will American sailors and pilots get fired on while we act as proxies for other forces.

False flag refers to covert operations designed to deceive; the deception creates the appearance of a particular party (group or nation) being responsible for some activity, disguising the actual source of responsibility.

Declare open hunting season and not stop until they surrender.

How about a Declaration of War instead, or would that require there to be some threat to the US?

Every time the Syrian terrorists get put in a bind by the Governments forces they claim a chemical attack.

Fool us once same on them

Fooling us again and again shame on us. (or our media)

Declaration of War? That’s a quaint idea. When is the last time the US, or any nation for that matter, formally declared war? The president has constitutional authority over our forces, Congress controls the purse strings, and we, the public, can vote him out of office if we don’t like his actions. Trump does not need Congressional permission, nor the UN, or anyone else’s to launch an attack anywhere, anytime.

The days of the U.S. carrying out military campaigns in the Middle East on behalf of Saudi real estate investment partners of the Bush family should have ended the day Trump was inaugurated.

That's what I hoped, but now Trump is blaming Assad immediately? I was also hoping that Bolton would distance himself from the warmongers.

Using chemical weapons is a threat to everyone. But do you declare war on your kids for sword fighting each other with butcher knives, or just spank them and send them to their rooms.

Nefarious forces are trying to draw him and the US in.

Let us look back a few short days ago...

April 3, 2018....“I want to get out, I want to bring the troops back home, I want to start rebuilding our nation,” Trump said Tuesday during a news conference at the White House with leaders of Baltic nations. He added that “our primary mission” of fighting the Islamic State terrorist group is “almost completed.”

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-03/trump-says-he-wants-u-s-troops-to-get-out-of-syria-soon

April 7, 2018.....Syrian chemical attack kills at least 70.

Hmmmmmmmmmm..........Assad has pretty much crushed the rebellion. Many Syrians have publicly stated that the “rebels” are nothing more than Al Queda, ISIS, and other radical Islamic factions that want control of Syria. The last time Assad was blamed for a chemical attack(which I don’t believe he did), as you stated, he got some cruise missiles up his ass. Knowing that the p*ssy that was in the White House is gone and the new guy will launch an attack, why would he do something to prolong American involvement? He wouldn’t. He has absolutely no reason to. He’s finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and might be able to rebuild his country. And the war hawks are worried about Russia and the Iranians. And all they’re doing is watching us expend valuable assets and wasting time, while the President continues to get hammered domestically. Assad, the Syrian government and Syrian military gain absolutely nothing by using chemical weapons.

This is a false flag to keep the US there. If anything, we should be helping the Kurds. Telling Erdogan to f*ck off. Moving the Air Force out of Incirlik and putting the base in Irbil. And direct all our attention to Iran and helping it’s people overthrow their government.

>> How many 911s occurred on U.S. soil BEFORE then? <<

I can think of one huge one in 1993. You may not think it was that big a deal, but the only difference between it and the one in 2001 was that the latter case was a success.

Let's ponder this:

Considering the disasterous "deep state" history of ball-dropping, with their involvement (or prior knowledge, and subsequent lack of intervention) in Ruby Ridge, Waco, all the school shootings, the Boston organized crime scandal, the Boston Marathon Bombers scandal, Ft Hood, and a myriad of other known likely murderers, coupled with the "progressive" (deep state) court rulings attempting to shut down the influx of parties from known terrorist states, and the obvious recent corrupt partisan (deep state) behavior trying to throw the election, and having failed that, to remove Trump from office....(breathe)

From 30,000 feet, looking back at 9/11 and some of the "truther" whacko conspiracy-theorist arguments...since Bush didn't actually "own" the deep state any more than Trump does....

Why isn't it possible that the hyper-partisan FBI/CIA etc didn't also have a hand in looking the other way, or otherwise assisting Mohammed Atta and his merry band of murdering terrorists, allowing 9/11 to happen for the intended purpose of getting rid of GWB?

They're WAY less than not pure.

ISIS/Daesh/al-Nusra/etc. tend not to wear military uniforms, and they also love to mix in with the civilian population

All terrorists ARE civilians.

Most mozlums are not terrorists, but most terrorists are mozlums. Especially in the US...how do you tell them apart?

I was also hoping that Bolton would distance himself from the warmongers.

That was utterly delusional.

I raised a giant red flag here on FreeRepublic when John Bolton was named as National Security Advisor, and at least 75% of the comments posted in response to mine contained some variation of a claim that John Bolton isn't really a war-mongering "neo-con" globalist.

Oh, well. Sometimes I hate being right. I can't help it if delusion runs thick even here on Free Republic.

We should not be involved in Syria at all. Not for the Kurds, nor Saudis, nor Israel or the perpetual warmongers who profit from the endless wars.

Ridiculous. Assad is no more an animal than any other head of state in the region and you are far too gullible if you think he is responsible for this.

Let’s hope Trump is singing a different tune privately than he is publicly.

The Constitution is not a “quaint idea,” rather it's the premier law of the land.

I was not suggesting the constitution was a quaint idea in the manner you interpreted. My point is that PRESIDENT Trump HAS constitutional authority and does not need to ask Congress, the media, the UN, or others for permission.

Well put, but I doubt he is getting that type of council and John Bolton is probably warming up for another attack even now. Trump and his family seem really susceptible to being manipulated by images of dead and suffering children without determining the source or validity in the Middle East endless war situation.
