FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 6, 2018
Attorney General Announces Zero-Tolerance Policy for Criminal Illegal Entry
Attorney General Jeff Sessions today notified all U.S. Attorneys Offices along the Southwest Border of a new zero-tolerance policy for offenses under 8 U.S.C. § 1325(a), which prohibits both attempted illegal entry and illegal entry into the United States by an alien. The implementation of the Attorney Generals zero-tolerance policy comes as the Department of Homeland Security reported a 203 percent increase in illegal border crossings from March 2017 to March 2018, and a 37 percent increase from February 2018 to March 2018the largest month-to-month increase since 2011.
The situation at our Southwest Border is unacceptable. Congress has failed to pass effective legislation that serves the national interestthat closes dangerous loopholes and fully funds a wall along our southern border. As a result, a crisis has erupted at our Southwest Border that necessitates an escalated effort to prosecute those who choose to illegally cross our border, said Attorney General Jeff Sessions. To those who wish to challenge the Trump Administrations commitment to public safety, national security, and the rule of law, I warn you: illegally entering this country will not be rewarded, but will instead be met with the full prosecutorial powers of the Department of Justice. To the Departments prosecutors, I urge you: promoting and enforcing the rule of law is vital to protecting a nation, its borders, and its citizens. You play a critical part in fulfilling these goals, and I thank you for your continued efforts in seeing to it that our lawsand as a result, our nationare respected.
On April 11, 2017, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a renewed commitment to criminal immigration enforcement. As part of that announcement, the Attorney General issued a memorandum to all federal prosecutors and directed them to prioritize the prosecution of certain criminal immigration offenses.
Todays zero-tolerance policy further directs each U.S. Attorneys Office along the Southwest Border (i.e., Southern District of California, District of Arizona, District of New Mexico, Western District of Texas, and the Southern District of Texas) to adopt a policy to prosecute all Department of Homeland Security referrals of section 1325(a) violations, to the extent practicable.
I say send the Marines to the Mex border...ALL OF THEM!
I prefer Sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads.
All in favor of a 100 foot wide, alligator infested moat on the southern border signify so by saying “Aye.”
You forgot to add plugged on electrical toasters thrown in the moat every 10 feet.
Recon, observe, coordinate, report.
No Mas.
Why wasn’t this done the day after Trump was elected?
Use E verify too
__________
That’s what we don’t hear enough of. Why isn’t Trump going after people who hire illegals? If that were cut off, they’d have no reason to come here.
Sessions is finally stamping his foot and throwing a hissy fit. Oh how I long to see this POS down the road , replaced by a real fire breather.
When he is sleeping, I am kind of in a fairly good humor
What is Sessions doing on the bus load after bus load coming in legally then over staying visas? This is how majority get over..not illegal border crossing.
Absolutely. Mandatory jail time for anyone who hires an illegal.
I would like to see your numbers on that one. When I was running seminars for illegal entry into our country trying to get people to come help our group fill the gap on the border, DHS numbers had a 3-1 margin of border crossings to visa over stays.
I am not saying we do not need to do something about visa over stays but our borders are so porous, not only land but water, that we are being invaded. AND the problem is and even DHS will admit, they only catch 8-10%. They are spread too thin and the network of coyotes and embedded help on this side of the border only aids to the problem.
WE must stop them at the border and turn them back.
Yep.
Ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
Take the territory and then negotiate it;s return
I like it, send Blackjack Mattis to Mexico... excellent idea.
Finally...Sessions is doing something right.
An announcement. Oh, my!
Jobs that supposedly Americans won’t do will soon be done by robots and other automated machines.
I know. And then we have Americans that won’t do the work and millions of 3rd world savages, freeloaders and their kids, sitting around waiting for a check.
