Oregon's governor says that if President Donald Trump asks to dispatch members of her state's National Guard to the US southern border, she'll "say no."
In a set of tweets Wednesday, Democratic Gov. Kate Brown said she was "deeply troubled" by Trump's plan to send members of the US military to the border and implied that the President is doing so as a political distraction.
"If @realDonaldTrump asks me to deploy Oregon Guard troops to the Mexico border, I'll say no. As Commander of Oregon's Guard, I'm deeply troubled by Trump's plan to militarize our border," the tweet said.
Brown also said that although she has not been contacted by the Trump administration or others regarding Oregon's National Guard troops, she has "no intention of allowing Oregon's guard troops to be used to distract from his troubles in Washington."

Let’s see - States have local police, Sheriff’s and State police - and Guard...NATIONAL Guard.
The country has the regular military to protect from FOREIGN enemies. And they are NOT allowed to fight inside the country.
That leaves the NATIONAL Guard for protecting us within the country.
Is that right?
And if so, how can a governor refuse to send it’s Guard?
Federalize them and send them first. Make it a point to say whey they are going first.
Bingo! One with nothing better to do than monitor for hall monitors!
The PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES does as COMMANDER IN CHIEF.
All he has to do is Federalize and Activate them.
The LESBO IN CHIEF in the Oregon governor’s mansion has no place in the chain of command after the Guard is activated on the Federal level.
Just ask George Wallace (if he wasn’t dead).
I’d make it a point to Federalize her Guardsmen and send them to the Border to live in tents and tell that it was her posturing that got them called up. Then send them home in time for the elections.
Like the loser Hillary the loser Oregon governor is pretending to be relevant
She violated her oath to protect the constitution
She is so off the White House Christmas Card list.

Orville Faubus, the governor of Mississippi, did the same thing when Pres. Eisenhower asked for that state’s guard protect the first Black children to integrate the schools in Little Rock. So the President federalized the Guard, and they protected the children. President Trump can federalize the OR Guard.
I’ve read something about Title 10 which does allow the President to override and federalize the National Guard if a governor objects. Sorry, I didn’t copy the source, but, I think it’s on TGP.
President Trump can order up the National Guard. It is detailed as part of Article 10 of the United States Code. This is an explanation: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/10/12406
Which will come first?
Trump will shut off ALL Federal $$$$$$ to Oregon
OR
She will get off her high horse & help secure the border???
I would like to see a total shut off that lasts UNTIL the border is secure & ALL the Nat Guard are sent home.
That’s a jerk move.
You’d have to take Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and the greater Vancouver area then.
Billy Yank called these people “secesh” and “Copperheads” during the Civil War...
He’s been trollin’ here for a few years now.. surprised he’s still around.
Sadly, you may be right.

I think in a push comes to shove situation, Trump would easily prevail - years ago the Governors got together and developed a “Dual Authority” deal to give them more power/control but when push comes to shove a real CinC “Trumps” a local “commander”...
“if President Donald Trump asks to dispatch members of her state’s National Guard to the US southern border”
To. Borrow from BJ Clinton, “I guess that all depends in what the meaning if ‘ASK’ is.”
