The Trump administration announced Wednesday that President Trump will sign a proclamation to send the National Guard to the border immediately.
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said at the White House press briefing that it would be done in conjunction with governors and that the administration hopes the deployment begins "immediately."

Yeah, and it’s going to stay ‘over.’
Do you realize that Trump has shifted his stance because of people like me and others that speak up. If Coulter and all of us hadn't spoken up after Omnibus, as latest example, do you think we'd be seeing any of these actions since? And to say these are not enough, maybe that will lead him to do more.
Otherwise, you could be silent and cheer every sell out, which seems to be your preference. Go for it but don't be surprised when the rest of us say No. Respect it.
Jerry Brown is cooperating?
I doubt it.
Have you been on the border when the National Guard is there? Do you know anything about what they do to help secure the border? I would bet you don’t. I do know they make a huge difference in manpower. They are not trained to be immigration inspectors- nor have knowledge of our immigration laws. They do tasks that normally tie up tons of BP agents in day to day operations. That means far more BP agents can be in the field doing that job, that they are trained for instead of doing tasks that are support in nature.
The National Guard also does surveillance and communication and other things that they are great at, those things allow BP agents to be far more efficient at their job. More eyes and ears are always needed on the border. The National Guard does help secure the border in more ways than you can imagine.
Sending National Guard to the border is very effective, as long as it is part of an overall plan. There is no one magic potion that will solve all the border issues presto.
President Trump has an overall plan and has been implementing it from day one to secure the border and deport illegals. Much of what is being done is not being reported but it is happening. In the past there was no will to really secure the border, or deport or otherwise inconvenience illegals- there was no plan- one thing would be done...then randomly another. No layers of real effort like we have now. That is the difference.
I can say I have not seen the National Guard greet illegals as they pass by, that is completely bogus and no relation to reality.
I live in Mexico. There are armed guards at the Walmart, at the bank, etc. They would not be shocked. They are not candy-asses and will not go crying into their safe spaces like American snowflakes.
There is saying in Mexico, “Opportunity makes the thief.”
Do not give them an opportunity.
P>S> What does this say about expectations and values?
Read up the commentary and watch the interviews of troops that were previously sent. They were often relegated to cleaning and getting coffee. Some commented that all they got to do was smile as illegals came by. Now, maybe Trump and Mattis will give them a different role this time around but the DHS secretary said it will be much the same as past, nothing new.
I think this is it. I also think we will lose.
Never let a good crisis go to waste
You are wrong. It certainly is building the wall. Miles and miles of border now have no actual border fence, and only a barb wire livestock fence. Miles and miles of border have nothing but vehicle barrier "fence" that does nothing to stop foot traffic and very little to stop vehicle traffic for that matter. Replacing that livestock fence and vehicle barrier with a real fence/wall whatever is best suited for that area is vitally needed. It is part of securing the border, it is certainly part of THE WALL.
The Caravan was not mentioned. Drug dealers and bad guys were specified
Build the wall under military guard.
I told y'all that this is what it would take.
You think Trumps approval is high now?
There should be the arresting of noncomplying Sanctuary state and city officials AND judges going on too. Martial law if necessary. Enough!!
Oh, yes; we absolutely need The Wall!
Of course.
That is when the reply will be "If there was a wall, there would not have been the possibility of that incident occurring so easily. The N.G. would have never been there.
.
Trump to sign proclamation to send National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border
The terrain of the border varies from water, to shifting sand, to solid rock, and many other challenges. An actual wall is not going to work in every area. Some areas are more suited to a fence or other method of securing it. That is a fact. I just want the border secured, I want a wall where it will function best, I want what will function best all along the border. That should be common sense for anyone to figure out.
Some areas on the border already have a secure fence that has made a world of difference in those areas. Many more areas of the border do not have a real fence or wall or any real method of securing that area. Those are the areas that need our attention. Those are the areas that are getting the President’s attention.
Should have been done decades ago....
Yes and in some areas the Border Patrol asked for barriers they could see through for their own safety from ambush and in order for them to be able to better secure those areas. President Trump, wisely has asked for BP input to various wall designs in various areas. Wall, fence- whatever is more effective in each area is what I want. I am sure it is happening, I know in my area it is happening.
Some people would rather rant about things they know nothing about.
If Hitlery was president, then yes there would be a fiesta’ at the border..

But it did not stop this guy:
Padding along atop the border fence near Naco, a mountain lion was spotlighted by a Border Patrol officer recently.
Officials didn't indicate which side of the border the mountain lion eventually leaped down on, or whether it was carrying documents. http://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/050815_naco_lion/1000px-mountain-lion-stalks-naco-fence/
