~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Peterson Air Force Base is a base of the United States Air Force located at Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado, United States and it provides runways for the adjacent City of Colorado Springs Municipal Airport under a shared joint civil-military airport arrangement. It was named in honor of 1st Lt Edward Joseph Peterson who was killed in a crash at the base.
Peterson AFB is home to the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), AFSPC's 21st Space Wing (21 SW), Army Space Command, and the Air Force Reserve Command's 302d Airlift Wing (302 AW). The 21 SW serves as host unit for Peterson AFB. The 21st Space Wing, headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., is the Air Force's only organization providing missile warning and space control to unified commanders and combat forces worldwide. They are located in five countries, crossing 13 time zones, consisting of five groups, a director of staff, 39 units at 27 locations. They literally cover the world with their operations.
The 21st SW provides missile warning and space control to North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Strategic Command through a network of command and control units and ground based sensors operated by geographically separated units around the world.
Principal military flight operations at Peterson AFB are currently conducted by the 302d Airlift Wing (302 AW), an Air Mobility Command (AMC)-gained unit of the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC). Previously stationed at the former Rickenbacker AFB, Ohio, the 302 AW relocated to Peterson in 1985 when Rickenbacker converted to an Air National Guard installation. The 302 AW consists of over 1,200 traditional part-time Air Force Reservists and over 200 full-time Air Reserve Technician (ART), Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) and USAF civil service personnel operating and maintaining 13 C-130H Hercules aircraft.
On 28 July 2006, operations formerly conducted in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) were relocated to Peterson Air Force Base for purposes of efficiency. The Cheyenne Mountain Complex will be left on warm standby until such time the protection of the mountain is again required. NORAD officials no longer feel there is a threat of an intercontinental nuclear attack which could disrupt NORAD's operations.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...is it spring yet?
As much as I’ve been afraid to believe it, snow days may be over. Nights are still below freezing, but days are sunny and melting.

Sweet and Bitter
April 3, 2018
You are good, and what you do is good.
Psalm 119:68
Some people like bitter chocolate and some prefer sweet. Ancient Mayans in Central America enjoyed chocolate as a beverage and seasoned it with chili peppers. They liked this bitter water, as they called it. Many years later it was introduced in Spain, but the Spaniards preferred chocolate sweet, so they added sugar and honey to counteract its natural bitterness.
Like chocolate, days can be bitter or sweet as well. A seventeenth-century French monk named Brother Lawrence wrote, If we knew how much [God] loves us, we would always be ready to receive equally . . . from His hand the sweet and the bitter. Accept the sweet and the bitter equally? This is difficult! What is Brother Lawrence talking about? The key lies in Gods character. The psalmist said of God, You are good, and what you do is good (Psalm 119:68).
Mayans also valued bitter chocolate for its healing and medicinal properties. Bitter days have value too. They make us aware of our weaknesses and they help us depend more on God. The psalmist wrote, It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees (v. 71). Let us embrace life today, with its different flavorsreassured of Gods goodness. Let us say, You have done many good things for me, Lord, just as you promised (v. 65 nlt).
Father, help me to see Your goodness even in times of trouble.
Psalm 119 expresses a deep longing to be transformed by the riches of Gods truth. The psalm echoes the theme of Psalm 1that walking with God in integrity results in being blessed, having a flourishing life (v. 1).
Yet even as the psalm vividly describes pursuing God wholeheartedly, it also emphasizes that a rich life with God isnt based on us. We are always in desperate need of Gods loving guidance to lead us into ever-greater depths of His truth (119:3537, 88). The beauty of life with God is always based on His goodness (v. 68).
That is whyeven in hard timeswe can still find joy and hope. Even when our struggles are caused by our own sin (vv. 67, 71), we can trust in His mercy (v. 132). Because He is good and does what is good (v. 68), we can trust that He is always at work, drawing us closer to Him (v. 58).
Reflect on the intimate way Psalm 119 unites our calling to pursue God with our complete dependence on Him. Are you prone to emphasize one over the other? How might God be calling you to a deeper walk with Him?

Hey PRO, Kathy, I think y’all shoved your winter off to the rest of us! LOL!
We won’t get snow like the northern states are getting but we’ll have freezing temps at night this week.
Gotta survive the storms coming through tomorrow night first.

Make arrangements to visit Dragonman while you’re in the Springs.
To: radu
Hey radu, wassup?
I went to Wal-mart today to take care of a big list of stuff I needed and then have been back home relaxing since.
Tomorrow going to gather/clean gun stuff to get ready for the range on Wednesday. This week is Spring break for son's teaching gig so we're heading out to blast a few.

Howdy, PRO!
So you made a Wally World run, too, did ya? Same here though my list wasn’t very long. Just heavy. Cat litter, big bag of dry food, big Cokes for us. Then went out to do a little weeding in a couple of flower beds. Enjoying the nice weather before the chill comes back.
So the fun’s still on for Wed.? Great! You must have been disappointed when your plans were cancelled a couple of weeks ago.
