Two Democratic gubernatorial candidates are clashing over the implications of the verb "to prance."
State Sen. Richard S. Madaleno Jr. has accused tech entrepreneur Alec Ross of engaging in dog-whistle politics by implying a state senator "prances around Annapolis talking" instead of getting things done. Madaleno is the only gay gubernatorial candidate.
He told The Washington Post that he thought the word choice was "interesting," and his campaign put out a statement calling it "poor and insensitive."

... my insensitive homophobic opponent should not talk about me prancing around ... dancing around ... horsing around ... or hanging around!
So I guess ‘mincing’ is out, too.
Sounds queer.
Butt Hay, that’s just me...
State Sen. Rich Madaleno and "his husband" Mark Hodge
maybe he was prancing on the podium when he should have leaned on the lectern.....................
Mincing? Light in the loafers? Bone smuggling? Turd burgling? Playing for the other team?
What wouldnt offend? And WHO CARES what he thinks?
I know Maryland is lost but is it so far gone the are going to make this poofter the Governor?
So was Moore making a homophobic comment in the Night Before Christmas when he named one of the eight reindeer Prancer?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA.... 2 males, and not a Man between them.
Come on Ricky! Just let this blow over.
So he flounces in disgust when his prancing about is described?
I wish this guy would get off of Rickys back.
Imagine the triggering had is opponent used the verb sashay?
Nope. Not a chance.
The current Governor, Larry Hogan is a center right Republican. He’s about the best we’re gonna get in Maryland.
He has over a 60% approval rating and is polling double digits against every challenger.
I think the likely challenger will be Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, a more slimy corrupt slimeball you’ll never find.
The nice thing is that many of these rat challengers are having to give up their cushy, guaranteed current seats to run and lose
No, he sashays off in a huff.
In a liberal world, it's perfectly OK for him to run as "The Gay Candidate". But no competition is allowed to notice.
Well that’s good to hear but didn’t Maryland go Obama-Obama-Clinton by comfortable margins?
So, as I read this article, Ross was not referring to Madaleno when he used the word prancing. Yet Madaleno is accusing Ross of offending him by using a perfectly descriptive word, most often applied to horses. I am tired of special interest groups trying to hijack the English language because they detect some hidden meaning to a particular word.
Of course it did.
The reason Hogan won was that first he came across as highly confident. He’s a businessman with no political experience.
The democrats shoved through a complete and total vacuous empty suit who campaigned like Hillary Clinton and thought the state owed him the job. He also campaigned on a full abortion and gun control platform.
Maryland is completely controlled by three deep blue counties and the city of Baltimore. The rest of the state runs pretty red. That and Hogan’s appeal to the few thinking democrats still extant put him over the top.
He’s done about the best he can in the circumstances and should be victorious in November.
So . . . “prancing” is considered a “gay” activity. In the words of Dick Martin (Rowan and Martin), “I didn’t know that!”
