A federal judge has rejected President Trumps push to dismiss a lawsuit against him for allegedly violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution.
U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte in Maryland shut down the Justice Departments arguments to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the attorney generals in D.C and Maryland, according to court documents.
Trump is accused of violating the clause, which prevents elected officials from receiving gifts or benefits from foreign governments without Congresss approval. --This breaking news report will be updated.

This judge needs to be impeached. The courts are tied up enough as it is, they don’t need phony law suits taking up time.

The emoluments clause is about being enriched by foreign countries by using your office to get benefits from them.
Trump owned hotels prior to becoming president. Foreigners have forever been staying in his hotels and using his golf courses.
He has no contract with any government for them to use his hotels.
This is another politicized judge.

Trump needs to hire lawyers for this case instead of using Justice Dept lawyers paid for by the taxpayers

Trump simply has to ask what George Washington did with all his agricultural profits from his five farms at Mount Vernon during the 1790s.

The emoluments clause is about being enriched by foreign countries by using your office to get benefits from them. Actually, the Emoluments Clause specifically states that the President shall not receive any other emolument from the US Government:
The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them. - Article II Section I

If that’s the extent of the clause, you are on target.

It is. The next section is the oath of office.

I have a feeling that any business income from foreign governments would be balanced out by business lost from liberal individuals and groups no longer booking rooms or events at Trump properties.
When the hatred for Trump started showing during the campaign, I worried that his properties would become targets for violent crazies.
