A university professor studying large-scale, Trump-era protests in Washington says the media is giving the wrong impression about who made up the crowd during last weekends anti-gun March for Our Lives demonstration.
My research tells a different story about who participated in the March for Our Lives and it is more complicated and less well-packaged for prime time, University of Maryland sociology professor Dana R. Fisher wrote in a Wednesday story for the Washington Post.
Fishers study indicates that -- while news coverage focused on the teenagers marching for gun control in the wake of last months shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida --- 90 percent of the crowd was actually adults. She said the average age of adults in the crowd was just under 49.

Leftist can put on a “March” in hours, the Republicans leadership are too busy kissing the 0000.1% butt to engage in political war. That’s why we will Lose,
ROTFL. Millennial snowflakes. I'll bet 90% of the 90% were reporters, TV bobbleheads and liberal rag "journalists". Just another commie lib farce extravaganza. Sorry Hoggy. You're not "changing the world" as you say. You're preaching to your choir and commie puppet masters. Heh.
Our local anti-gun March for Our Lives, group was strong with 60 - 80 year old feminists and a few Coexists!
One might want to at least exercise enough patience to drill down into the story. There might have been crowd-stuffing with oldsters, for example. And if so, how and why did that happen?
Like I said... oldster-stuffing.
And I believe these older and weaker folks do have legitimate fears about shooters on the loose.
I know the answer of NRA is quick and snappy: fear shooters? Be a shooter! But remember the mindset of the oldsters doesn’t always change that quick. A set of case studies would speak better to oldsters.
Listen even to misguided liberals. For they may teach you where you’ve been coming short yourself.
Media + Numbers = Water & Oil
...or paid professional "activists".
These figures can be true, however the short and snappy nature of modern stories makes it hard to ferret out the whole picture.
I figure that in this case it could be true. They didn’t call out the kids, they called out the Grey Panthers.
What kind of case studies?
Or a selected profile of concerned constituents knowing nothing better and with a lot of time to kill.
Case stories, I might better put it. Tell the oldsters what being an oldster shooter entails. It isn’t necessarily putting an AK47 in the pantry.
Oldster who shoots
I have a friend that attended the Wash.DC rally along with her gay partner. They attend similar gigs almost every weekend and enjoy all the social trimmings accordingly. Basically they hate Trump and attribute all anti-gay happenings to him and his administration. Of course for 8 years they overlooked Dumbo the flying Mooselimb President and all the gay hate in the moslem world.
Bottomline is that todays’ left relies heavily on the LGBT and Union interest groups to get decent turnouts to various protests from coast to coast. Soros sends enough dough to buy the pastries and coffee.
Sounds like the same ole Hillary/Bernie crowd. Yawn.
Things like this?

I think the instant gratification nature of internet communication may have vitiated the ability of the FR crowd to actually relate.
We need to step away from the computer and reflect. We are going to have to engage in teaching processes that take good old fashioned time. God never downloaded a Windows update into people’s brains just because our computers did.
And frankly, here’s where a lot of lefties excel. They don’t mind “pressing the flesh.” To them, people are a prize in the world that is their oyster. Misguided a whole lot, yes. But even patience is a virtue. Righties often just retreat. Who’s going to shape the future then? And how? Even voting doesn’t always do it. Trump was a positive move at least compared to Hillary. The left going overboard had a lot to do with getting Trump. But with leftists out there still getting face time versus rightists retreating into their shells, this could be more fragile than we think. If Democrats learn not to step so badly upon their je ne sais quoi next time around, they might get the next presidency after Donald Trump, and Mike Pence might not.
The most effective righties take the time to understand why the lefties are doing as well as they are, and it isn’t as easy as waving it off as “mental disease.” One has to sell the whole reasoning process to others. Teapots like FR might actually be pulling righties away from where their touch is more needed — in churches keeping the focus whole-bible orthodox. By all means visit the widow and orphan in their distress — but do it while keeping oneself unspotted from the world.
OK, it exists as bits on a disk somewhere. This is enough?
What do you want me to do, fly to your hometown and give it to you on paper?
I was providing examples of something about which you wanted examples.
Talk about looking a gift-horse in the mouth...
