A US Army veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan has been deported to Mexico, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.

The deportation follows an earlier decision by US authorities to deny Miguel Perez's citizenship application because of a felony drug conviction, despite his service and the PTSD he says it caused.

Perez, 39, was escorted across the US-Mexico border from Texas and handed over to Mexican authorities Friday, ICE said in a statement.

Yep.

You are a guest in this country.

As a guest you are allowed to spit in the fireplace and call the cat a bastard. If you spit on the rug and call the host a bastard we will have to ask you to leave.

We have enough home grown who do that, we do not need to import more.

As far as I can tell he was not an illegal. However even if you are a legal alien once you have committed a felony you are suppose to be shown the door.

A six month deployment and a 5 month deployment? I’ll bet he never even unpacked his duffle bag.

He served in Afghanistan from October 2002 to April 2003 and again from May to October 2003.

Wouldn't that be ONE tour with a mid tour leave? This guy is no "war hero".

Gives a whole different impression if the headline is fixed and reads “Drug Dealer Who Served Two Tours in Afghanistan Is Deported to Mexico.”

Well now wait a second here!

I’m confused. A California School Board member (City Council too!) ‘splained to me really good how veterans are totally stupid and stuff. So what’s the problem with deportation again? C’mon CNN!

Greg Salcido, bless his heart, believes soldiers, sailors, and marines are the “lowest of our low.”

“We’ve got a bunch of dumb shits over there,” Salcido said. “Think about the people who you know who are over there — your fucking stupid Uncle Louie or whatever — they’re dumb.... They’re not, like, high-level thinkers, they’re not academic people, they’re not intellectual people. They’re the freaking lowest of our low.”

Sounds like they did everybody a favor. Whew!

"After the second tour, there was more alcohol and that was also when I tried some drugs," Perez said last month. "But the addiction really started after I got back to Chicago, when I got back home, because I did not feel very sociable."

In 2010, he was convicted in Cook County, Illinois, on charges related to delivering more than 2 pounds of cocaine to an undercover officer. He was sentenced to 15 years, and had served half his sentence when ICE began deportation proceedings. He had been in the agency's custody since 2016.

He should be happy that he’s free now.
He could be serving another 7 1/2 years on that drug conviction.

He had access to coke in pounds...meaning he was very likely part of the Mexican drug trade when busted.
