A number of Marjory Stoneman Douglas students made speeches at todays March For Our Lives rally for gun reform. One of those students, Alex Wind, took particular aim at pro-gun politicians and the NRA, using some very strong words in the process.
In the wake of the tragedy on February 14th, we as students, as youth, decided that if adults werent going to take action, we would, Wind said, referencing the tragic Parkland shooting. No gun-related legislation has been passed in this country since 2008. Ten years ago!
Saying mass shootings need to stop, Wind criticized those proposing the solution would be to arm teachers.
I feel bad for these kids in a way. They have no clue and reality will hit them upside the head.
These students are full of themselves and they are also full of crap. The media is egging them on and about every leftist organization in the world is falling all over themselves supporting them.
Often with huge amounts of money.
Ok. NRA bad and we must get rid of gun lobby money.
I’ll agree to the stipulation when Democrats cut ties to PP and get rid of abortion lobby money.
Just another moron with a megaphone.
So, if I give money to the NRA I choose life.
Winning!
Alex could be the next Senator one day.
Rubio better choose what he stands on—these children are angry.
Alex Wind is just another blowhard child tool of the Democrats. Poor kid.
I’d like to know how easy availability of guns facilitated the Parkland massacre.
Oh wait... guns weren’t the real problem but the shooter’s values and his mental state.
Issues no one wants to talk about. Just easier to frame the NRA as a scapegoat.
Ill bet there are a dozen gun-toting heroes they admire that dont occur to them when they say this stuff.
The NRA ranks somewhere around 490th in the list of organizations giving directly to candidates, and around 170th in terms of lobbying money spent. The NRA is far below spending of most major Left-wing organizations. There are no billionaires like Bloomberg, Soros or Steyer supporting the NRA.
What is really powerful about the NRA then? its a REAL grass-roots organization. It simply represents millions of individuals who share a common belief.
Drama queens. Grandchildren of hippies. Future leaders?
Yes, these kids will be swindled for their whole lives while they think they are making choices smarter than every one else. Welfare was made for them.
Notice the left side the uneducated to lead their cause.
Local police get called to his home 39 times and do ... nothing.
School board institutes anti-disciplinary policies that do ... nothing.
Deputies are outside the door while the shooting is going down and do ... nothing.
But it's all the NRA's fault. Utopian liberal idiocy on parade. In spades.
How embarrassing.
Every group should be allowed free assembly and free gathering of speech & money in this country. EVERY GROUP. That is a free country. They dont understand civics 101.
No one is forced to join or give to the Klan, the NRA, Susan G Komen, the Boy Scoutts, or Planned Parenthood. But by Gd they are all allowed to assemble and collect members.
Liberals want guns banned while overlooking the singular fact government failed to protect kids in the first place.
Like another will finally fix human nature.
A few months ago I was sleeping late on a Sunday and someone climbed into my backyard, found one of my screwdrivers on my patio, and started prying the screen out of my bedroom window!
I woke up with this horrible screeching sound inches from my face. I was so stunned, I looked through the blinds and then yelled “What are you doing”?
This young Hispanic man didn't hear me - I think he was on drugs. I used my fist to pound on my window right by his face and he jerked and then ran away over the fence.
I never even thought about getting my gun. Next time will be different.
*Another law*
Dear Alex Wind,
or should I be precise and address Alex Wind as, since he is still a child, “Master Alex Wind”.
I am an adult. I have made my own way, and my own money for longer than you were a gleam in your sire’s eye. I give and fund money to organizations of my own choosing, without the likes of you bellowing from the sidewalk.
I am a military veteran. You are not privy to anything more, because you are a child. As a veteran, I learned the correct handling and usage of firearms, of all kinds. I am much more knowledgeable about the subject than you or your parents, combined.
I AM the NRA. I AM the GOA. They are not some company like the one that makes those soap pods you and your colleagues enjoy digesting, that you can make demands to do anything. They are your neighbors, your teachers, your policemen, your firemen, your store owners.
Now, i do NOT advocate that you begin harassing THEM or ME. I would not want you to get yourself hurt, at the least.
