I finally got to go back to the military museum today to get back to spiffing up dusty, linty uniforms for display. It's been a long winter waiting to get back to work.

The guys have been busy bringing more items up from Tupelo and setting some of them out. The first thing new greeted me when I walked in the door. This display wasn't there before.

You have no idea how antsy I’ve been to get back up there but I had no choice but to wait. They had to set up a new area for me to work in and that wasn’t at the top of their priority list. :-)

It is humbling to touch those pieces of history. You can’t help but think about who might have worn that uniform, handled that particular gear, etc.

Oh, wow, I’m interested all right! That’s a good way to start the show and a great way to start the tour of the museum!

I'd already heard about this soldier before I got up there today.

The guy who bought it for the museum dropped it off right inside the front door and left, not telling anyone about it. The next day one of the others showed up and when he opened the door to the darkened building, all he saw was the silhouette of a man inside. He said he slammed the door and "got ready to deal with that guy" .... meaning he whipped out his gun in case it was needed. When he opened the door again, he finally realized it was a statue.
Needless to say, he's not near the front door now. It would be horrible if a veteran suffering from PTSD opened the door and was greeted by that.
