Austin bomber: ‘I wish I were sorry’
nypost.com ^ | 3/22/18 | Ruth Brown

The confessed Austin bomber described himself as a lifelong “psychopath” and threatened to blow himself up inside a crowded McDonald’s in a 28-minute statement recorded before his death, according to a new report.

“I wish I were sorry, but I am not,” Mark Conditt said in the recording, sources told the Austin Statesman.

Conditt said he feels like he’s been disturbed since childhood — but didn’t offer much else in the way of motive, acknowledging only that his three-week bombing spree caused permanent injuries to some of his victims, and left family of the two who died without their loved ones, according to the paper.

I’ve been told be people here on FR that almost all schizophrenics are non-violent, and I believe that to be the case.

At least he didn’t say “I wish I WAS sorry.”

The benefits of homeschooling. Proper grammar!

From the article: “Conditt said he feels like he’s been disturbed since childhood ....”

_______________

I just don’t believe much of the reporting on this kid/guy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a nephew about his age who has Asperbergers Syndrome.
This is EXACTLY what I would expect of him if he was not properly medicated. He’s a genius but has no concept of personal relationships or personal interaction.
As a general rule their paranoia does not lead to violence. I suppose occasionally it could. It would probably appear to a rational person this would be completely unpredictable. As I recall from my limited experience on locked wards in Med School they are generally a bigger threat to themselves.
“All schizophrenics are not violent” are you kidding. Assuming you are referring to the people who hear voices, are often also depressed and bipolar as well. These people lash out all the time. They are often on meds that don’t work. And they tend to thrash around when they can’t find peace and comfort either by a manic episode that is crashing down or audible static that turns into voices that they cannot escape. Often they can’t put together a school shooting plan. But they can shoot up a room before they just sit down or blow their own brains out. But normally they just thrash around in a room by themselves.
I worked in a big city ER for years and have probably encountered more schizophrenics than you've had hot meals.If a schizophrenic feels threatened (which is all-too-often the case) they are capable of lashing out...of becoming violent/aggressive.But in my experience it's unusual for them to *initiate* violence.
Split personality?
“I wish I were sorry” vice “I wish I was sorry”.
Freudian slip?
I do not trust the authorities. Either release the entire recording, or shut up. Quit selecting what you want us to hear.
Apparently he was homeschooled, but who knows?
I guess we should hear a lot more about his recent behavior as he had one or two housemates, unless they might have need to keep quiet. Haven’t read a lot about this story, but have seen no quotes for them.
That is one of the first things I thought of - he was a homosexual. You’re right, the authorities do not want to release that. They’re too busy promoting homosexuality.
_____________
LOL .... that's very funny around our house!
My wife and I are very confounded by the lack of the proper use or ANY use of the "subjunctive voice/mood" in most younger people's speech these days.
It barely exists any longer. Again, your comment is very funny.
Thanks for that. You made our day.
MK-ULTRA?
______________
I hear you.
"MK-Ultra was a top-secret CIA project in which the agency conducted hundreds of clandestine experiments—sometimes on unwitting U.S. citizens—to assess the potential use of LSD and other drugs for mind control, information gathering and psychological torture. Though Project MK-Ultra lasted from 1953 until about 1973 ..."
* See post # 12 and # 8. Lots of people have come to feel that way ....... government seems to be a deep and ugly puzzle.
This proves he was homeschooled. Public schools no longer teach grammar.
Yes .... those two housemates should have a lot to tell, but with the government we have, I don't trust anything I read or hear.
By the way, what did you mean by, "unless they might have (a) need to keep quiet"?
From the article: "Conditt said he feels like he’s been disturbed since childhood ...."
All this talk about mental illness is just a diversion....we need to address the real problem no one wants to talk about...."Bomb Control"....how long are we going to allow the unfettered access to bomb making materials...Steel pipe, end caps, nails etc.. These items should be on a list of things only to be sold to people over the age of 21. They should be limited to an eight bomb capacity. Common sense Bomb Control has been put off long enough!!!!
If he really did wish he was sorry, then he was not a psychopath. It is more likely he was a sociopath.
