Make no mistake, Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook are in trouble not just here in America, but all over the world. The Tech Tyrant has only himself to blame. Had he just left us alone, he would not be so alone or widely viewed as a monopoly with all the inherent risks in that. He would also not be a national pariah. When you are in charge of something, be it a Girl Scout troop or one of the most powerful tech companies in the world, the only way to stay out of trouble is with simple and clear rules applied equally. By not doing this, Zuckerberg has wrapped himself round his own axle.
Even a billion or so Facebook users are unhappy with him. They feel trapped on a platform that offends them. Much of this resentment comes from feeling swindled. After herding us all into his monopolistic public square, Zuckerberg changed the rules.
On both the micro and macro levels, as Facebook arbitrarily singles out conservatives for suppression, censorship, and purges (not to mention left-wing fact checks), all while leftists doing the same remain mostly unmolested. There is no question that this is a digital public square lousy with double standards that we all witness on an almost daily basis
Facebooks entire problem is right there on its page of Kafka-esque community standards. What I mean by Kafka-esque is the opaqueness of rules that can be interpreted in so many different ways which means there really are no rules, which means 1) you dont know what the boundaries are, so 2) you are intimidated into not expressing yourself fully, and 3) you can be suspended or purged by Facebook without ever knowing why.

Zucky has behaved so much as a demagogue that he can now be challenged. An alternative to Farcebook maybe in the works. The migration to it would be tectonic at this point.
Communists/democrats always have this problem. They want control over every little aspect of everyone’s lives.
Gosh, it’s sure a darn shame to see Facebook being fingered for the data-mining operation that it truly is.
Well, maybe it’s not a shame.....more like poetic justice.
Hillary stooge....
as long as he and his family are also left paupers in the streets begging for scraps.
that would be appropriate.
This...”man” is such a titanic schmuck.
It’ll be delicious to watch him getting taken down.
He knew about it. He needs to go to jail.
It’s not Zuckerburg. He’s the “face” of Facebook. It’s government owned and operated. Think about it. Who runs the government? The Deep State which is liberal. And the liberal Facebook is censoring everything the deep state perceives as a threat. If it was controlled by Zuckerburg, he’d leave it alone and not care about the politics. Once the billions roll in the liberals pretend to care but it’s actually all about the money.
Progressive mentality must control all, or its “leaders” can brand those who don’t as “deplorables,” and even, “irredeemable.”
I'm very aware of the profile I'm accumulating on FB. I don't take any tests that I won't get a high grade on. I don't do anything that evaluates mental or physical loss of skill. I realize what I "like" tells a lot about me.
I'm surprised how much I like the upside of FB. It's real good to be in touch with my HS classmates and cousins I've lost contact with. I like putting an occasional quote up and see the kinds of comments I get. In dialog with my former students, I find they still enjoy positive comments from their HS Math teacher. I like it when there are reasonable discussions about current events on CSPAN postings, Cleveland Indians website, and even MSNBC. It's good to see that people very much out of my comfort zone have interesting and valuable insights to share.
Summary FB is whatever you want it to be. Zuckerberg's model requires individual responsibility and intelligence to be used well. He over estimates people's capacity to control their own decisions in a responsible way.
We had a snake; and a scorpion, too; tell us...
BTTT...
Abandon Fecebook
Zuckerberg uses the wealth you provide against US.
I just came back to Facebook after nearly 6 years away. I dropped Facebook as soon as Obama was reelected. Since all my friends are there, I figured it was a way to catch up with everyone.
Nothing changed. The good part was I purged all my liberal friends who talked trash, but got triggered when I provided a response. I don’t share anything, give a shout out or support any causes, no matter what the ideological agenda is. I only post inspirational sports quotes. I will post in the groups I am in, but it has to be specific for the group.
By doing this, I am enjoying Facebook.
“The migration to it would be tectonic at this point.”
Unless its Google Plus or whatever their social networking site is/was ...
Trump should direct the DOJ to move ahead with antitrust actions against Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Indicate the govt would be a lot more understanding and reasonable IF they truly respected free speech as outlined in the article.
It's always about the money. In the case of the "deep state"/billionaire axis of evil, it's been going on since 1861.
Zuckerberg got hit by lightening and, after cheating his partners out of what they had created, decided “why not?” He has retained the maturity of an 18-year-old because he could. Most people grow-up because they have to. Zuckerberg never had to. He is the victim of what happened to him and the fact that basically he’s a schmuck. Failure to understand what will happen in the future is characteristic of not having to worry about it. Certainly the grown-ups who latched-on to the Wunderkind understood this but, hey! The billions of dollars freely spent on whatever they wanted had to help. Zuckerberg is now primed for destruction.
In 1957 a man named Ken Olsen started a small computer company based upon engineering insight. Some years later it was the biggest employer in New England. The stock hit $199. Fifteen years after he stated, “No one will ever want a computer on their desk,” it was gone like flash-paper. 135,000 people out of a job. Hundreds of billions of $$ gone, sold off to the lowest bidder. Olsen died several years later, probably from a broken heart.
