Voting in the Russian presidential election is already under way in the Russian Far East, where polls have opened.
Putin is expected to easily win the first round Sunday with 70% of the vote. Key thing to watch for is the turnout.
With an election with no real suspense, if it falls below the Kremlin-set target of 70%, its likely to tarnish Putin's win.
With the Russian President having an 680% personal approval rating, no wonder the result is an all but foregone conclusion.

Watch that the press will deride Putin’s high winning percentage.
But won’t compare it to California’s one party state.

If Putin wins, will he be accused of colluding with Donald Trump?
To: goldstategop
Pfft, 680% approval. That is nothing. I hear Obama had a 1,680% approval rating, top THAT!

What? The campaign is already over? And Americans didn’t even get to launch any bots to interfere on twitter?

Anyone notice how the media weren’t even going to touch the Russian campaign.

this is about as valid as the Iraqi elections where Saddam Hussein would win 97% of the vote.

Who’s votes are counted in Russia any more? Putin is the de-facto President of Russia until he dies. In fact - didn’t he “turn over” an election to another fellow several years ago to appease the law that he later changed to allow him to no longer have any form of term limits?

Russia’s GDP per capita ($8748) is now below China’s ($8806), thanks to the crash in oil and gas prices. To put this in perspective, China pumps $60 worth of oil per citizen per year vs Russia’s $1600. To put this in perspective, just based on oil alone, Russia’s output per capita would be $1600 per person per year even if the non-oil economy just sat around playing chess vs China’s $60. As far as the well-being of the hoi polloi goes, Putin is making the Gulf state emirs/sultans look like enlightened rulers.
