As of this writing, Democrat Conor Lamb is clinging to a lead of roughly 600 votes in the special election for Pennsylvanias 18th Congressional District. There are probably not enough uncounted votes out there for Republican Rick Saccone to pull out the win. It also really doesnt matter much, one way or the other (unless you are a Democrat living in the 18th who feels strongly about having a Democrat represent you in Washington). Heres why: The House is increasingly polarized. There was a time that a narrowed House majority for a party would make for interesting politics in Washington, because enough members of each party could often be persuaded to vote for the other partys agenda and truly complicate matters. No more. The House is for all intents and purposes a parliamentary-style democracy, where members of a party support their partys agenda. There are exceptions (looking at you, Freedom Caucus), but generally speaking, Republicans vote for Republican policies. In other words, reducing the GOP majority from 24 seats to 23 is likely to have a minimal impact on actual legislation in the House.

LS just posted on twitter that Saccone has won by 690 votes.
Agreed. PA18 may not even be in existence in the next election and Lamb out of a job!
who/what is LS??
Also stated on twitter that there are some 6000 absentee ballots still to be counted tomorrow.
Like who?
For real?.....................
Larry Sinclair?.................
Republicans should panic. Losing one vote in congress is not a big deal, but a Democrat winning a seat in a district that Trump won by 20 points is a crushing loss. Anyone with 1/100 of a brain knows that voting for a Democrat is essentially saying “I have no problem impeaching Trump”. Its the Democrats number one priority if they get the House back. So why are so many people who voted for Trump now saying they don’t care if Trump gets impeached? I don’t get it?
It's one seat closer to the other party taking control of the House. It matters.
YES IT DOES!!!
Maybe the next go around Romney’s daughter won’t bless the nomination of a frump who looks like a bingo announcer at a managed care facility.
I thought the District goes away in Nov.
In my world PA-18 = Piper Super Cub.
He said he got his info from the local GOP
Sounds great.
While a single election probably isn’t that significant, the Republicans’ recent record in the special elections is troubling. Many of the explanations are beginning to sound like whistling past the graveyard. What’s troubling about this is that their recent successes seem to be emboldening the Democrats. I like it better when they remain beaten down and demoralized. I don’t want the Democrats to think that they have momentum.
Well that would be an unbelievable turn of events!!
Can we be so lucky???
I can’t believe that after a Republican administration has done so much to counteract the miserable 8 years of Democratic failure the folks in Pa.want to give the Dems another chance to give them the same thing.
Don’t underestimate the stupidity of PA, (especially Phila)
Another close election, and another good reason to PUNCH every Liberaltarian you see right in the nose!
