On the bright side we know that Surgical Appliances will buy back his Cougar 9000 wheelchair.

Seriously, RIP.

>>I think he was brilliant enough that God welcomed him

God doesn’t work that way.

How.......Christian of you - gloating over what you consider to be a lost soul while God laments.........non-Christians have no monopoly on hypocrisy and evil thoughts.....

Sad case, a hard life probably made harder not only by a lack of faith, but also by an open antipathy towards faith.

One of the saddest things to me is to see someone renounce their faith because of the terrible things that have happened to them. A Rabbi in Auschwitz who came to believe God didn’t exist, and even if he did, how could he do these things to people who loved him?

Granted, Stephen Hawking existed in his own private Auschwitz in a way, something that would try the faith of anyone.

I can only hope he found God in the end, in a good way.

Well, I met him when he was visiting Caltech, around the time Richard Feynman was there. I thought that Feynman was the more impressive of the two.

There’s an IQ test in eternal judgement? God laughs at human brilliance. He made Time, the universe and all that is in it. Hwaking couldn’t make a cricket.

We’re not misinterpreting anything. There would be no value to scripture if it failed at so fundamental a level. God also manifests Himself to souls during life. He does not leave any of us twisting in the wind. Religion and Faith would be impossible with out this. We have Help in life and if we turn our back upon IT THAT is a big factor.

There’s no floating at all. It’s reality. The dude rejected God completely. I also said I’d see him there. So kindly bugger off.

then why does He allow it to happen...?

Because He created Order using His Word as the basis.

Hawking served mankind during his time here
He expanded a lot of minds
If he didn’t see God out there he surely inspired others who did
I think for one man his life was well spent
Especially a man whose body was a cruel shell his mind had to escape from
Not many bear that and produce such wisdom for so many

I wish there were more details of his brother’s experience
Predictably Hawking was slammed by his secular scientist peers for revealing his new revelation
Pity it came at the end of his life

I wasn’t a big fan/follower of his work however I believe God judges those with great notoriety more harshly but also considers the burdens of our own particular cross and how we bore it. It’s comforting to hear that the Holy Spirit spoke to him through his brother’s NDE and may have softened his heart.

Eternal rest grant unto Stephen O Lord

and may perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul

and all the souls

of the faithfully departed

through the Mercy of God

rest in peace.

You would have done well back in the late 60s with such utterly meaningless, bereft, empty babble as the above. It seemed the song of the day back then. You’re trolling, right? Geez, I hope you are...
