Haspel was promoted by Brennan during the Obama years. Not a good sign.

Senate confirmation is not required to put Pompeo in there in an acting capacity (because he is currently serving in a position that he was confirmed by the Senate for). But as I understand it, he will still need to be confirmed as SOS to make it permanent.

Haspel is a career employee, not a political appointee.
I think her promotion today was out of expediency, to avoid Senate confirmation of a political appointee, and to avoid using a current member of the Cabinet who may be needed for a future lateral move (to replace Sessions?)
Tillerson was the most capable man in the entire cabinet
