It is no longer a conspiracy theory spawned by deplorable bitter clingers, but a creeping reality spawned by shootings law enforcement could have prevented but didn't. The Illinois House has passed legislation requiring 18- to 20-year-olds to give up certain legally purchased and legally owned firearms:
A bill requiring 18-20 year olds to hand over or transfer ownership of heretofore legally possessed "assault weapons" is gaining sponsors in the Illinois Senate after passing the House last month.
The bill, HB 1465, was sponsored in the House by Rep. Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg) and passed by a vote of 64-51 on February 28.

Wouldn’t be easier and just as effective to simply pass a law making it illegal to shoot a person? People would follow the law and then no more murders!
Making millions instant criminals.
No, I agree we should “resist”. But the total one-party control in IL means if Mike Madigan doesn’t want your bill to go anywhere he just refers it to committee where it stays forever - the rules say it can’t even be debated on the House floor. So the Republican members from downstate IL have their hands tied, no matter how strongly they believe in the same things we do, they don’t have the power to do anything about it.
The NRA can, and should. Others can go to the courts and fight this and I’m sure they will, but that “takes forever” too.
My point is that meanwhile, every time they undercut and over-reach, more people are affected negatively. Lots of democrats like to hunt and own guns, and they’re not going to like this any more than we do. As they slowly break away from supporting the Chicago machine the odds of taking back the state gradually improve.
This reminds me of a conversation a co-worker and I had a work recently.
He asked how many firearms did I own. My reply was “somewhere between none, and enough.”
IL House and Senate supercedes The Constitution?
Democrats...
So, the state wants to disenfranchise its 18, 19, and 20 year old citizens, making criminals out of these otherwise lawful citizens? This is beyond the buying, it is possession. End of day, either 18 is an adult or it is not. I don’t think there is a legit gray area so maybe some good will come of this by the supreme court ruling an adult is an adult, not partial. Either we do or we do not respect our constitutional rights as a group as there is nothing that says 1st amendment is only valid for certain ages, 2nd for others, etc. Legislatures want to change that, let them amend the constitution.
You have to have a FOID card to purchase a gun in IL at a gun shop. Private transactions...I don’t how good the compliance is for that.
You forgot NOT enough. And toss in not enough ammo either. ;-)

If the left is willing to lie, cheat, and steal from you while armed to the teeth...
Imagine what they’ll do to you once they’ve made it illegal to defend yourself.

Somewhere around 0% in certain Chicago neighborhoods.

My answer is...
“Just One More.”
They never ask about ammo, and I never tell them. I find that oddly reassuring.
You can have a gun that shoots a dozen rounds a minute, or you can have one that shoots hundreds of rounds a minute.
But then again, I ain’t telling.
Für das Wohl des Vaterlandes ist eine unbewaffnete Bevölkerung für die Regierung sicherer als eine bewaffnete Bürgerschaft.
Another Overnight Felon Law hits the Books.
Can’t wait until NRA Members are hiding in the Attics of old time Truman supporting Democrats.
First, they came for the bump stocks, but I didnt care because I dont own a bump stock......
Florida just made an also previously legal item illegal.
do people in Illinois have to get a permit from the state
So every FOID card holder under the age of 21 can be checked on.
The article doesn’t back up the Fake News headline. “Gun confiscation” has not begun in Illinois. Political machinations have begun in Illinois.

No more "winning by losing". We've had more than enough of that talk from The Stupid Party in the past 20 years. I thank President Trump for making Winning By Winning the new mandate.
mussman ... rhymes with madigan
