WASHINGTON (AP) — It looks like President Donald Trump is getting the military parade he wants in Washington — though he may get no tanks for the effort.

A Pentagon planning memo issued Thursday and released Friday says the parade being planned for Nov. 11, Veterans Day, will “include wheeled vehicles only, no tanks — consideration must be given to minimize damage to local infrastructure.” Big, heavy tanks could tear up District of Columbia streets.

But the event will “include a heavy air component at the end of the parade,” meaning lots of airplane flyovers. Older aircraft will be included as available.

Big culture shock.

The lying dog recruiter said I’d go to some kinds of actual training schools.

All I got was a half Saturday driving lesson and a license.

They were glad to have me but didn’t want to train me for much of anything. Part of the problem was me joining my hometown unit. Since I didn’t have to do Army basic and kept my piddly navy rank, that rubbed some of them the wrong way.

I despise rat bastard military recruiters.

I‘m guessing from your comments that your income is derived from the gov‘t.

Wrong, I'm not in the military.

Based on your comments, are you a tenured faculty member at a leftwing indoctrination center (university)?

“Roads are not constructed to handle the amount of weight of an M1 Abrams.”

The M1 Abrams is not more heavy than many freight on the roads. And it weight is spread on a much larger surface than any wheeled truck. So no.
Ironically, tanks are always hauled to operation theaters by... trucks which mean much harder stress on roads than if they move on their own track. Why, because have you seen the price tag and the miles per gallon of a tank?

So the idea that “Big, heavy tanks could tear up District of Columbia streets” is a stupid and ignorant lie. But what else do we expect from the lying media.

Why don't they just tell the Army they are not wanted?

There are plenty of ways to include tanks without tearing up the oh so delicate streets of DC.

“The Abrams tank weighs far less than the crawler transporter, but it’s weight is distributed over a much smaller surface area. For the Abrams, each square inch of tread pushes down with a force of about 15 pounds, about the same as atmospheric pressure.”

Truck (18 wheeler) tire ground contact pressure is complex but can run as high as 22 psi

Some buddies I was in tech school {civilian} were in the unit and talked me into it. Being prior service I was allowed to enlist for a 1/1 contract. One year drills one year inactive. I needed the income so I enlisted. First drill day they trained me on 5 ton, Duce and half, and Gamma Goat, and gave me military license. By second drill weekend I was learning the nuke part of the job as we were fixing to head down to Stewart. Then when we got back they found out I could read grid maps and asked me if I wanted Forward Observer. My Buddy looked and shook his head no at me I declined. LOL

I did go to a commercial driving school 2 weeks on my money and got my CDL though. Like you being prior service I got to keep my rank from the Navy. In the Navy I was a junior NCO as are all E-4 and above. In the NG I was Spec 4 and even some E-5's are not NCO in the Army.

I am a card carrying member of the productive class creating productive employment for a few dozen people - making goods that people voluntarily give me money in exchange for the goods.

My efforts generate high six figures every year in involuntary extortions ( aka taxes ) ultimately stolen from my customers and employees.
