US employers went on a hiring binge last month, adding 313,000 jobs, the most since July 2016, and drawing hundreds of thousands of people into the job market.
The Labor Department says wage gains, meanwhile, fell from the previous month to 2.6 percent year-over-year growth. Strong hourly wage growth had spooked markets in February because it raised the specter of inflation. But January's figure was revised one-tenth of a point lower to 2.8 percent.
The influx of new workers kept the unemployment rate unchanged at 4.1 percent.

The retail trade number is surprising. I thought we were entering a retail ice age.

But what about the really important issues like gender identity and transgender bathrooms? (sarcasm).

In thinking about it, I don't think very many of Amazons employees (if any) would be considered retail.
Most Amazon workers are in warehouses and fulfillment centers (and that would not be considered retail).

“...The influx of new workers kept the unemployment rate unchanged at 4.1 percent...” Does this mean that "off the books" workers are now getting employed and are being counted?

Yet the more I think about it, the more I have to admit I just don't know.
If the numbers are counted using the companies' IRS classifications, Amazon may be consider retail, regardless of the actual jobs of the employees.

The influx of new workers kept the unemployment rate unchanged at 4.1 percent.Wonder the legal status of them "new workers" that kept the unemployment rate from going down....

I still think that all talk of retail apocalypse is a little overblown. The fact is — Most people still want to TOUCH, TRY and FEEL products before they buy them.
I should know, I have too many women in my life who shop not to know :)

Waiting to hear from Pelosi that this is just “crumbs”, and somehow bad for the USA.
