The statement tonight by South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong is so jaw-dropping in significance it has left the professional diplomatic apparatus stunned.
A year of targeted and strategic geopolitical policy execution by President Trump, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has resulted in North Korean leader Kim Jong-un accepting denuclearization and requesting a meeting with President Trump to achieve terms therein.
The possibility of a willingly denuclearized Korean peninsular is such an astounding policy victory; it is difficult to conceptualize. Heres the statement from South Koreas Chung Eui-yong:
Good evening, today I had the privilege of briefing President Trump on my recent visit to Pyongyang, North Korea. Id like to thank President Trump, the vice-president and his wonderful national security team, including my close friend General McMaster.
I thanked President Trump that his leadership, and his maximum pressure policy together with international solidarity, brought us to this juncture. I expressed President Moon Jae-ins personal gratitude for President Trumps leadership.
I told President Trump that in our meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said he is committed to denuclearization. Kim pledged that North Korea will refrain from any further nuclear or missile tests; he understands that the routine joint military exercises between the Republic of Korea and the United States must continue. And he expressed his eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible.

“Id like to thank President Trump, the vice-president and his wonderful national security team, INCLUDING MY CLOSE FRIEND GENERAL MCMASTER.” — South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong, announcing North Korea Kim Jung-un has agreed to de-nuclearize the Korean Peninsula and to meet face-to-face with President Trump within the next two months. (Emphasis mine)
President Trump continues to play the adversarial MSM like a symphony orchestra. First, he enlists third parties outside the Administration to feed red meat to the MSM. Have them divulge hearsay that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and National Security Advisor General H.R. McMaster think Trump is stupid, irrational, and way out of his depth. Then issue official denials and claim the reports are “fake news.”
Trump knows the MSM, always eager to undermine him and encourage America’s adversaries, will take the bait every time, e.g. this 04/11/17 report from BuzzFeed News:
“McMaster bluntly trashed his boss, said the sources, four of whom told BuzzFeed News they heard about the exchange directly from (Oracle C.E.O. Safra) Catz. The top national security official dismissed (President Trump) variously as an ‘idiot’ and a ‘dope’ with the intelligence of a ‘kindergartner,’ the sources said.
A sixth source who was not familiar with the details of the dinner told BuzzFeed News that McMaster had made similarly derogatory comments about Trumps intelligence to him in private, including that the president lacked the necessary brainpower to understand the matters before the National Security Council ...
“McMasters remarks during the dinner, wherein he also reportedly praised the Iranian nuclear deal, were part of the reason (”staunchly pro-Israel G.O.P. megadonor Sheldon Adelson”) privately bankrolled a campaign to oust hima charge an Adelson spokesperson denied. Despite the effort, McMaster remained in place, though if Trump takes as much offense to idiot and dope as he does to moron, his job security might be up for debate.”
“North Korea is a problem. We’re going to solve it.” - Trump
Why not be realistic? We want a nuclear-free and ICBM-free N. Korea. I see no purpose for "surrender" other than getting Kim killed and replaced by some generals. Having that outcome is another roll of the dice.
“He goes to China, sometimes. Let him come HERE.”
He is afraid to fly. He only takes the train. Getting him to South Korea would be a big deal.
I cant even remember what they CLAIMED the magic kenyan did to earn his cracker jack prize.
Forcing the Fat Little Psychopath to back down may lose the little guy some face, but he can afford to lose a little, since he’s got more chins than a Chinese phone book, so he’ll be OK.
Backing down is better than having getting forcibly removed from power, one way or the other.
“...the magic kenyan did to earn his cracker jack prize...”
I can tell you - Obunghole figure out how to breath, and learned to spell his own name correctly.
Quite the accomplishment!!! He SHOULD get a medal. And a Blue Ribbon!!! And a Cookie!!! And some warm milk!!!!
“He is afraid to fly.”
Probably has good reason to be. The % of the earth where NK has air superiority is quite small.
Any description of the blast because if the so-called Rods from God had been used, the impact blast/explosion from one rod alone would have been of epic proportions...and done more than collapse a tunnel?
FDR and Truman shook hands with Stalin.
Funny but sad.
Should have added “... and a set of matching handcuffs and ankle bracelets with a spiffy orange polyester onesie”.
I hope he’s not planning to kill President Trump.
They gave Obama a Nobel Peace Prize for nothing if I recall correctly. There’s going to be a lot of hand wringing if Trump succeeds. Never mind making the world a safer place, politics seems to trump everything these days. It’s sad.
We’re not going to fall for this, are we? The NORKs regularly promise to end their nuclear program in exchange for millions of dollars from the U.S. As soon as they get the money, they press on with their nuclear weapons development program. I expect President Trump to be too smart to fall for the promises that Clinton, Bush, and the Kenyan did.
Trump is the master negotiator. He surprises everyone. By leading kim jong un to want to meet, he is advancing the cause of peace, and deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. Obviously, he won’t get the prize. The p*ssy-men in Stockholm thought bammy deserved the prize, and will never give it to Trump.
