The Broward County Sheriffs Office has identified to Fox News the captain who, according to sources, directed responding deputies and units to stage or form a perimeter outside Stoneman Douglas High School, instead of rushing immediately into the building, as the mass shooting unfolded there.
Multiple law enforcement and official sources said the commands in the initial moments after Nikolas Cruz allegedly opened fire would go against all training which instructs first responders to go, go, go until the shooter is neutralized. As law enforcement arrived, the shooters identity and exact location were still unknown.

a 62 yr old security guard armed with just a .45 handgun
Killed both before they could enter the bldg..
SO...as you were saying?
Funny stuff!
Would they have known who they were looking for?
Unfortunately, in today's world, government authorities and officials are not held accountable for their actions, except for the most part in the military. And the higher you are in the food chain, the less the accountability.
They should have stopped, and taken custody of anyone who walked out of the school, whether they knew who they were looking for or not. Time to sort that out later. Since there was a delay in the camera they were relying on, it's also possible that Cruz walked out of the school before the cops had even gotten in place outside.
It was reported Cruz ran out with other students. He was wearing a MSD shirt. Not sure how they would have distinguished him from hundreds of other students.
In a perfect world, all the students who came out of the building would have been directed to an enclosed/cordoned-off area, to be contained until they could be sorted through and individually questioned. I’ve tried to find out if Cruz had dumped his weapons before leaving the school, but couldn’t find any clarification on that issue.
He did dump them along with his vest and bookbag and duffle bag
Video showed him running through the school parking lot.
This is a very good summary.
Thanks for the link.
Sir, I always enjoy a great story! I joined the Marines in 1974 and we still had the A4D long after I joined. It was never a Four Seater but it was designed to carry Nuclear Weapons.

That’s a man. A man from Poland or Czechoslovakia or Scandinavia. His name is Jan.
Right. “Jan” = “Yan”.
Anyway that's what a guy just hauled off and told me one time, so it had to be true... what with him knowing all about that kinda stuff, y'know...
That IS the bird "his name we do not speak" flew back in his day, right?
And I was hoping that you were going to tell me: “They were actually very small, little seats, in the back, designed to haul dwarfs who were trained to deliver the payload onto the target”
It would make for a great story but it would have start with “This is no shit; I swear its true” and “You can’t tell anyone I told you”!
