2. Trump: ‘Take the Guns First. Go Through Due Process Second’

3. Trump Encourages Everyone To Throw Everything Into The Bill. . . everything except concealed carry reciprocity.

You are assuming the Rats will roll all their most extreme measures into one big bill that is rejected. What if they instead put a few “reasonable” measures into one small bill and it passes the House and Senate?

You’re right. This is a let down. I hope it goes nowhere.

Y’all think that Cruz would have gone this route?

You're engaged in magical thinking. Who knows what Cruz "would have done"? Nobody knows, nobody can know.

We do know what Trump IS DOING, and it is not good. We have a problem now with too much "gun control", and too much emphasis on guns as the locus of all evil. We need to be REPEALING gun control laws, not adding new ones.

don’t pay attention to what he says

That's how I treat liars like Joe Manchin. Are you saying that Donald Trump is a liar?

You realize you just equated NRA and 2nd Amendment patriots with Dreamers, right?

Big mistake on Trump’s part. Yours too.

‘Take the Guns First. Go Through Due Process Second’” Sounds ominous

It sounds ominous because it IS ominous. ANY politician who wants to throw due process out the window; any politician who advocates violating the laws he is sworn to uphold is nothing more than a tyrant. If I wanted two-bit tyranny, I would have voted for Hildebeeste.

Trump is playing 4-D chess.

If there's a plan here, it's Ivanka's

Nice false dichotomy. The actual purpose which Trump said several times yesterday was to put all ideas on the table. Trump also said numerous times that he prefers deterrence. The other lines are mostly throwaway.

Trump was mostly expressing his own personal frustration at the gun free zones and psychos who get called in dozens of times. He is not a lawyer or policy wonk. Just a simple guy with simple ideas. Perhaps too simple like Ivanka-simple. But you can dispense with the 4-d chess red herring. It is tiresome.

That said, he is still a strong candidate and I said that all he had to do - if nothing else - is get one of ours on the Supreme court bench.

He is also filling the lower courts with conservatives.

Get ready for the same old he is playing 5 D Chess BS by many who don't listen

That's a tired red herring. Trump was laying out ideas, some good, some bad. But if you listen to the whole thing you will hear many Trump statements about arming teachers. Gun promotion, not gun control. If all you do is let the media pick out a sound bite or two, you will be disappointed.

Idiotic conclusion from false premise. Trump's main priority is to make schools safe by arming ordinary teachers and workers. Wants former military but will take anyone. The opposite of a two-bit dictator.

He said that last week. Did he actually discuss arming teachers and retired military, etc. as a priority at the meeting yesterday?

What I heard was him supersede Pense’s comment about due process, him wanting to work with Diane Feinstein, him standing up against the NRA (organization that wholeheartedly endorsed him).

I guess I have an idiotic conclusion from a false premise too.

Advocating gun control is either idiotic or evil, and is ALWAYS the act of a tyrant or a would-be tyrant.

Trump is advocating gun control.

Several times. I listened to almost the whole thing on C-SPAN radio. The cherry picked bits are the things he said once. This was not a policy speech where his bad ideas had as much wieght as the good ones. Far from it.

First you ought to see that Trump is not in this so he can be a tyrant. He wants his name on some more buildings and landmarks and that will happen from a great economy, great foreign policy, etc. Gun control is his way of "doing something" about the hot issue of the day. If it enables tyranny later it won't be Trump, but somebody else.

I am about as big a 2A supporter as there is, but I am not worried about this political process where they will trim a bit of the 2A here and there. If they take too much the bill will die. But make no mistake the American patriots who support the 2A are now outvoted. Even though we can easily win CW2 we have a political climate where the 2A will be trimmed, like it or not.

What? You need to flesh out that logic.

Do you honestly think the radical libs in Congress have that sort of level headed restraint? They don't.

They actually know they can't get their wet dreams passed, but they're forced to play to their lunatic base, so they'll go whole hog, just to save face.

In the end, nothing will pass, and they'll have nothing left but their usual talking points against the right.

I’m getting real tired of this “rope-a-dope” and “4D chess” bullshit explanation/defense for everything Trump’s doing. It’s pretty clear that he’s leaning toward “universal” background checks, which means that, in order to sell or give a gun - any gun - to my kids, I have to run them through a background check and get the government’s permission.

I laughed out out at that....

No way no how..is any "law" going to stop anyone..from selling a gun.,,to anyone else. PERIOD.

I own guns that were family guns...no permission, no nothing. I've bot gun's from private citizens...no permission..no NOTHING.

And I'm a law abiding, tax paying...( WAY MORE THAN I WANT TO...!!) citizen.

Does anyone here think....crooks, MS-13, Gangs, trash...gonna get background checks!?!?!? LOL!!!
