Hope Hicks to Resign as White House Communications Director
NYT ^ | February 28, 2018 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 02/28/2018 1:54:43 PM PST by Pinkbell

Hope Hicks, the White House communications director and one of President Trump’s longest-serving advisers, said Wednesday that she was resigning.

Ms. Hicks, 29, a former model who joined Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign without any experience in politics, became known as one of the few aides who understood his personality and style and could challenge the president to change his views.

Ms. Hicks had been considering leaving for several months. She told colleagues that she had accomplished what she felt she could with a job that made her one of the most powerful people in Washington, and that there would never be a perfect moment to leave, according to White House aides.

Her resignation came a day after she testified for eight hours before the House Intelligence Committee, telling the panel that in her job, she had occasionally been required to tell white lies but had never lied about anything connected to the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

She did not say what her next job would be, and her departure date was unclear, but it is likely to be in the next few weeks.

Ms. Hicks said that she had “no words” to express her gratitude to the president, who responded with his own statement.

TOO MUCH MAKEUP. Fake, self-absorbed, narcissistic probably, like most women.

Maybe, as someone who never deliberately sought to get into politics, but whose talents and relationship with the Trump’s moved her in that direction, she feels she’s reached her limit as to what she can contribute, or is willing to dedicate to presidential politics. I wish her the best. She served POTUS well.

Every time I’ve told a caller asking for my boss, “He’s not in”, and he was... white lie.

She never should have said she told “white lies” for Trump.

She never should have said she told “white lies” for Trump.

It was foolish. Press secretaries and PR people are like lawyers. They're advocates for their clients. They make the best case for them and try to present them in a good light.

Come to think of it, they're like politicians. They select the facts that best support the cause they represent and downplay other facts. No politician admits that the other side might be right about something.

Hope Hicks's father ran a PR firm. He really should have taught her how to talk about what they do. Somebody also should told Kellyanne Conway not to talk about "alternative facts."

She is an eye full but I suspect there's more to this than meets the eye. The attention she's gotten in this job opened a lot of possibilities for her that weren't available before she took the job.

However much she's paid, she can make way more than that elsewhere now.

The Porter scandal was the last straw. It’s good that she’s going, Trump doesn’t need her personal melodrama dragging him down.

Nobody around here can really name all the wonders Hicks did for the WH and Trump. She was a friend Of Ivanka.

They just like her because she is good looking.
I wonder when her book will be out.

Good for her. Been there, done that, and got the T-shirt.

Washington is a meat grinder. Glad she is GTHO.

“Now on the radio, it said that her job with the President required her to tell “white lies!”
I never listen to any news except FOX, but I had CBS on to see the local news at 6. The CBS Evening News came on at 6:30. The first thing they announced was her resignation, and that she admits she had to lie for President Trump! They reported it as if that’s the reason she’s leaving!
