It was foolish. Press secretaries and PR people are like lawyers. They're advocates for their clients. They make the best case for them and try to present them in a good light.
Come to think of it, they're like politicians. They select the facts that best support the cause they represent and downplay other facts. No politician admits that the other side might be right about something.
Hope Hicks's father ran a PR firm. He really should have taught her how to talk about what they do. Somebody also should told Kellyanne Conway not to talk about "alternative facts."
