Read up on due process. There is no law authorizing the police to take the guns away form someone who isn’t threatening anyone.

That's right, the police who'd been to his home dozens of times are not at fault, the kids and neighbors who knew he was timebomb are not at fault, the FBI who'd been warned multiple times are not at fault, Sheriff Israel is not at fault, the cops who responded to the school and stood around, are not at fault.

Common sense be damned. No one can do anything, no one is at fault because everyone must obey the law to the letter and follow due process. There is no room for common sense.☺ ☺

See thousands of firearms confiscated after Katrina.

All it takes is brute force. Piece of cake.

Say What Now?

Cruz was all over the nap making verbal and physical threats. His family called the police - after Cruz pointed a gun at their heads - begging them to come take the guns away.

Of course the cops did nothing. And 17 people died.

There were dozens of incidents where he threatened lives. He held a gun to the head of his mother, he held a gun to the head of his brother. He called the sheriff himself and threatened lives. They should have taken him to court. If he had been convicted he could not have bought that gun

Unless you are in Louisiana during a hurricane event. Then the cops are very certain you lose your rights, even though those kinds of situations are exactly the reason why many of us own firearms.

I'll stand corrected, but I think Cruz provided compelling evidence both to doctors/psychiatrists and law enforcement that he was a danger to himself and others - Thus the ability to temporarily take away weapons.

I suspect the majority of those police visits were because he threatened someone.

Right.

However, once a person makes a threat or threats, and he has the means to carry out the threat, it’s a different story.

Nikolas Cruz was making threats. Repeatedly. Online and off.

This is one of those "taking Trump literally vs. figuratively" moments. The fact is, there was due process for taking Cruz's guns based on his actions. This is why the President is misspeaking.

The President doesn't seem to realize that there was due process in place—the real problem is that Democrats ignored it—at the cost of public safety—because they're more interested in federal funds and eliminating the "school to prison pipeline".

The blood is truly on the hands of the Democrats in Broward county—both the school board and the police—and they should all lose their jobs because of their criminal negligence...
