Mom Lynda Cruz paid $50,000 to adopt alleged school shooter Nikolas Cruz from his “drug addict” biological mother when he was just 3 days old, and then dropped another $15,000 on his younger half-brother, Zachary, when she found out the troubled mom was pregnant again, according to a report. “Nik’s biological mother was just a complete screw-up, drug addict and thief,” former friend and neighbor Trish Duvaney told RadarOnline. “I even said to Lynda: ‘You don’t know the mother’s background.’ Both children were born after one-night stands. The birth mother, she didn’t even really know who the two biological fathers were.”
Lynda was about 50 at the time, and she and husband Roger Cruz were struggling to adopt a child because of her relatively advanced age, Duvaney said.
“So she went to a lawyer and did it to where you pay the biological mother’s expenses,” she said. “You’re not directly giving money to the birth mother.”
Lynda ponied up $50,000 to get Nik, now 19, directly from the hospital when he was 3 days old — and another $15,000 to later adopt Zachary, now 18, Radar reported.

All indications are, they were devoted parents.
But there are some things you can't control. This is --- as we all know --- even true of our own biological children.
How can he be only “calculating and devious” and “evil”? At two years old he threw a four month old in a swimming pool, according to the mother of the baby.
All of it is evil, but psychotics display the same behaviors and are successfully treated everyday to hold themselves together.
This shooter would have been out of foster care by 18. Unfortunately, many aged-out of foster care kids are troubled and a high percentage of them are involved with crime and have no trouble getting their hands on weapons. If you think only “rich” people can get guns, you are very naïve. Take a look at Detroit and Chicago: the lower you go on the socioeconomic ladder, the more people have illegally -bought guns.

That brain seems to be incredibly competent and capable in planing, organizing, and executing.

For one you don’t prescribe psychotropic drugs to them. If they have already shown they are incompatible with society, you remove them until people who are willing to lose their job AND their pension state otherwise.
Preachers don’t “save” people. That is a divine prerogative.

I have been around the mentally ill. They couldn’t have pulled this off.
This is all part of the Democrat playbook.
First, they blame the guns.
Then they blame everyone else.
They really don’t want to blame the Democrat Sheriff or the Democrat School Superintendent.
This incident was clearly foreseeable and preventable.
I will not accept excuses that allow those responsible for these murders to wriggle out of their responsibilities.

They were not “their own biological children”.
This was a child that was steeped in drugs and alcohol before he was born. There are plenty of other children with same or greater needs, no need to go there first. Going there first is virtue signalling that has detrimental effects on schools that get shoot up.

Yet we have to deal with the unsuccessfully treated, because they are on unsuccessful drugs, or they are not taking them.
They need to be monitored in a facility(locked away) until the drugs are proven to work on them.

We can control who we adopt from...don’t adopt from druggies or alcoholics(with exceptions of course).
Dammit, STOP with this PC bullshit. Recognize past failures and commit to no more failures.
Calculating, devious and evil are not limiting characteristics. Some psychotics ‘bloom’ after adolescence as they appeared normal throughout childhood.
The fact that he posted nearly 10 months ago about duplicating the Texas Tower sniper and 3 months ago regarding becoming a professional school shooter shows deliberation and extensive premeditation. And he ordered all his ‘tools to murder’ and rehearsed his plans to kill. Typically, South Florida criminal juries are very reluctant to accept insanity defenses.
Insanity under Florida criminal law, means that due to a mental infirmity, disease or defect the accused did not know what he/she was doing or its consequences, or, although he/she knew what he/she was doing, but did not know it was wrong. If the defendant believed what he/she was doing was morally right, then he/she is not insane, if he/she was aware that it violated societal standards or knew it was against the law.
Cruz knew that he was murdering and that people would die. He knew murdering is wrong and he would go to prison
Are they perfect? not by a long shot. Frankly after parenting them I would say biology is a strong predeterminate, but it is not everything.
I adopted four kids each at birth. Not only that, these dregs were not white!
How and why is not the focus of my statement. I offer no explanations, nor guarantees.
I’m simply speaking as one with years of involvement with the adoption community, and a joyful advocate of adoption, as well as a joyful adoptive father, myself.
What has worked spectacularly in our lives would not work for anyone else.
I will say this: NEVER forget that what a child needs from their parents is ALWAYS, and always WILL BE, a moving target.
Perhaps I should. But life is short.

From a “dreg” who is grateful for being adopted. True my birth mother was in good health but in 1958 I am sure unwed pregnant women were considered dregs by many.
