MSNBC Host: Handgun Bullets Are Ineffective In Stopping School Shooters Because They're Too Slow

Talk about a facepalm moment. Is it the media’s stupidity or stacking sandbags because they know this National Rifle Association initiative could gain traction? You decide. The NRA wants more armed guards in schools. Teachers should be allowed to carry as well. After the tragic Sandy Hook shooting, the school board voted to approve this proposal. This is not an alien concept. A lot of schools have resource officers; Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of the most recent school shooting on February 14, had such officers. They failed to engage the shooter, Nikolas Cruz. Scores of teachers in Ohio are signing up for gun training courses to obtain their concealed carry permits. So, since the NRA is akin to ISIS in the minds of the liberal media, what do you do? Well, if you’re MSNBC, apparently it’s to make the argument that handguns aren’t effective in stopping shooters, who are armed with rifles, because the bullets from pistols are too slow.  I will repeat that: handgun ammunition travels so slow that its ineffective at stopping someone armed with a rifle (via Daily Caller):

MSNBC anchors are claiming that teachers armed with handguns would be unable to stop a school shooter because rifles shoot “three times faster.”

Anchor Lawrence O’Donnell said on his show Thursday night that “a bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun…and yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter.”

Lawrence: A bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun.

And yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter https://t.co/heze69kRDU— MSNBC (@MSNBC) February 23, 2018

Yeah, there is a difference, but we’re talking tenths of a second here. Also, veteran J.R. Salzman seemed confused with this narrative: didn’t two Capitol Police officers stop a shooter from assassinating scores of Republicans in Alexandria as they were practicing for the annual congressional baseball game? Uh, yeah—they did. They confronted the shooter, they engaged him; he turned out to be a Bernie Sanders supporter, and they neutralized the threat. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) was almost killed in the attack.

Where did this BS narrative come from that you can’t stop a rifle with a handgun? When has that ever been a thing? Are people’s memories really so short they don’t remember Capital Police stopping a Bernie bro with an SKS shooting at congressman on a baseball field?— J.R. Salzman (@jrsalzman) February 25, 2018

This is the reason why the media will always lose the Second Amendment fight. Millions of Americans own firearms. They know the caliber, they know its capabilities, and they also know what the proper terminology is (i.e. automatic vs. semiautomatic). I’m not talking super technical gunsmith jargon, just basic details about the gun. They know what they have and the media’s pervasive failure to learn what they’re talking about will never allow them to win over Americans they need to change the nature of gun politics. That’s because the alternative floated by the Left is straight up gun confiscation, evisceration of the Second Amendment, and the stripping of American civil rights. That’s also another reason why they’ll never win. We know their game. It’s this type of trash peddled by MSNBC that makes for great entertainment.

A reliable source tells me that in 2016, a trepanation was performed on Lawrence O’Donnell, wherein they threw away the skull and kept the hole. I have hesitated bringing this up because the skull makes an excellent planter.

Journalists, the lowest level of intellect in any college programs. The equivalent of the mythical underwater basket weaving major.

How about asking the dimwit how all of those people in Chicago, Baltimore, and other fascist run cities are killed by handguns each week.

According to his deep knowledge they should be able to outrun the bullet. Ask him if he would be willing to have someone fire a 9mm at him to demonstrate how quickly he can step aside or outrun it.

MSNBC anchors are claiming that teachers armed with handguns would be unable to stop a school shooter because rifles shoot “three times faster.”

The only time the speed of the projectile matters is when you are talking distance travelled.

The effective distance of your average pistol round is going to be a maximum of 100 yards and when counting in accuracy in a combat situation probably 50 yards (or substantially less with a shooter with little training).

A rifle bullet can be expected to be effective out to 400 yards or more.

The rifle has a big advantage when distance to the target becomes factor. The longer the distance to the target the more advantage the rifle has over the hand gun. The higher speed of the rifle bullet means it can travel a longer distance while still carrying sufficient kinetic energy to be effective.

In a school shooting situation, the distance to the target would be unlikely to be greater than 20 yards and in most cases would be under 10 yards.

So the relative speed of the bullet is unimportant to this debate.

The real question is; if the school shooter does not meet any armed resistance at all what is to stop him from killing students and teachers until he exhausts his supply of ammunition?

Holy Moses! Maybe they should just train teachers to put their fingers in the barrel of the shooter’s gun. Maybe we could arm teachers with corks.

Do these freaks in the media ever go home at night humiliated at the ignorance they displayed that day?

These bullets seem to be pretty effective in Chicago.

if the school shooter does not meet any armed resistance

You fail to understand. There are laws that prevent a shooter in a school. A school is a gun-free zone. There are background checks and screenings to prevent any shooter from obtaining a firearm. There are already armed guards and deputies ready and willing to assist.

This scenario could never happen in real life. That's why we need to take your firearm away. You just have no need of it.

The f*ckfaces deliberately and intentionally changed Trump’s words to “all teachers” and now are in attack mode. They object to armed cops in the schools too. They want more kids killed.

If you really want to see them self lobotomize, start explaining the energy of the fired projectile and how it is dispersed in a target. What about the cavitation inside soft tissue as it relates to the energy and configuration of said projectile. Hollow point Vs. FMJ Vs. “armor piercing”.

This must be the big liberal rebuttal against arming teachers. I heard it from the head of the teachers union, the Hogg fag and Lawrence O'Donnell. Liberals must think an AR 15 makes a person bullet proof. They're such idiots.

O’Donnell is the lying liar who lies. Remember that rant he burst out with about the Swiftboaters?

He’s been fired from news at least twice. He ought to be unemployable.

A bullet traveling at about 3,000fps is about 2,000mph.

I think CNN has the 2018 Winter Olympics in their drug addled brains. So a AR-15 would win in the downhill snow board race and win the gold. Using the downhill analogy, it is how fast you get out of the starting gate that makes all the difference. But that is not that simple. A skilled shooter with a Glock 22 (the preferred weapon of law enforcement), with its 15-round .40 S&W cartridge, has big power (35,000 pounds per square inch) when it connects with its target. Having 15 rounds in your gun’s magazine increases the potential for accurate shots. So, the winner in the game is how fast can you acquire your target, the magazine capacity and the impact of the projectile.
