O’Donnell is the lying liar who lies. Remember that rant he burst out with about the Swiftboaters?

He’s been fired from news at least twice. He ought to be unemployable.

"O’Donnell is the lying liar who lies. Remember that rant he burst out with about the Swiftboaters?"

Let's make your point, using simple college physics...

Anchor Lawrence O’Donnell said on his show Thursday night that “a bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun…and yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter.

First, we do know that muzzle velocities vary among bullets from different cartridges of the same caliber, but let's just say that this "3 x faster" is correct.

Let's also say that the most common weight of a .223 bullet is 55 grains; and, that the most common weight of, say a .40 S and W pistol bullet is 165 grains.

So, 3 times as fast, and 1/3 as heavy.

And now, for people who have never heard of Newton's Second Law of Motion (raise your hand, O' Donnell) it is...

F=ma, where F = force, m = mass (weight, for Mr. O' Donnell) and a = acceleration Think feet per second, here.

Thus, 3 x speed at 1/3 mass, the .223 rifle bullet impact force is equivalent to the .40 pistol bullet. The forces of impact between the bullets of the black rifle .224 and the .40 handgun are, in fact, quite close.

There are, of course, modifying factors. The shape and type of bullets, and the distance from the target among them.

Mister O'Donnell parades his ignorance as if he were streaking it.
