Calls for the Broward sheriff to resign intensify. The vocal sheriff who has criticized everyone from local politicians to the NRA to one of his own officers in the wake of the Florida high school shooting is facing the pressure himself Monday, as calls mount for him to resign amid reports about his department’s alleged incompetence in stopping the gunman.
The heat against Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel is coming from all angles, including from a survivor of the attack who told Fox News that he “failed to act on so many different levels” and from dozens of state lawmakers who are urging Florida Gov. Rick Scott to suspend him.
“Listen, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, O.J. Simpson would still be in the record books,” was Israel's bizarre defense Sunday after being asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if the shooting might not have happened if his department handled things differently.
The comment came following disputed reports that three of Israel’s officers refused to enter Marjory Douglas Stoneman High School as Nikolas Cruz was killing 17 people in the Valentine’s Day rampage.
A deputy in charge of protecting the school, Scot Peterson, resigned Thursday after it emerged he himself failed to go into the building, taking shelter behind a concrete column for four minutes as the 19-year-old gunned down anyone in his path. And the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, in addition to the FBI, is continuing to face questions Monday as to why they didn’t do more when multiple people sounded the alarm about the gunman’s erratic behavior.

In any other circumstance, there would be a media frenzy on the people on the front lines, regardless.
These people remain anonymous because to do otherwise would shed light on how dangerous it is to put certain people in these types of positions.
Or - they were ordered to stand down, and ‘they’ can’t take a chance on one of them telling the story.
Only be revealing who these people are and getting their story can I be shown to be wrong - regardless of the culpability of the Sheriff’s office.
It simply doesn’t pass the smell test.
I had considered that possibility. The sheriff is a political animal, not a law enforcement animal. Ergo, his decisions, or lack there of, are heavily based on political considerations. Probably primarily so.

Stupid sheriff is trying to save his paycheck and his pension. That is what he is trying to do. Shift all the blame. He did nothing wrong. He wasn’t there. It was the deputy’s fault, not his. Shift all that blame. Stupid idiot sheriff.

I believe that all 4 officers were given orders to stand down.
Both the FBI and the Broward Co Sheriffs Office knew about Cruz, but letting him continue on his way. They knew he would shoot up a school, and then whenever Cruz would shoot up a school, then a new push to suspend the 2nd amendment would begin.
This was/is a deep state operation. Law enforcement operations regarding Cruz were stood down from beginning to end, to allow this murder spree to happen.
Some cower, but for the trained,
and with four of four standing down,
this was not coincidence.
They were either ORDERED or
were just protecting their Lion’s Lamborghini,
under the screams of the sheep bleeding to death.
No pension, either. And dishonorably discharge him from the Marines, too, in case he ever joins.
So then it’s agreed. Bi-partisanship at last, and a scapegoat, too. And then, while the rest of the swamp is feasting on his entrails, take down names and make plans. Every time, let them feed on their own and think that they’re safe.
