On his CNN show this morning, Jake Tapper raked Broward Sheriff Scott Israel over the coals for his departments mishandling of the Parkland school shooting.
Israel bobbed and weaved, but at one point his ego revealed itself. After claiming that as sheriff he has provided amazing leadership, Israel vaingloriously boasted that if he had been at the school:
I would have been the first in.

Tapper was VERY tough on Israel.
Here’s the full interview if anyone would like to see for himself.

Suuuuure you would. Right behind the unarmed and un-armored kid who ran in to save his girlfriend.
If you’d even bothered to show up at the event.
The cowards of Broward rot stats at the top, IMHO.
What was His policy,I bet the deputies were following it.
Disgusting waste of law enforcement cowards.
I bet the policy was to wait until Swat or rifles showed up
If Aaron had a concealed carry this would have been a very short event with few casualties.
Arm the Aarons!
And even THAT just resulted in more deputies standing around. When the cops "see something, say something" has no effect, it's time to fire the cops and take care of business without their useless carcasses sopping up taxpayer resources, and worse, giving a totally false sense of security.
Broward County will give him a pay increase and more staff.
No doubt - about 24 hours after the place had been secured.
The telling part will be if he gets re-elected.
Wholesale failure on so many levels.
The “amazing leader” is throwing deputy after deputy under the bus.
Also, the term “co-worker” doesn’t sound like a fellow police officer.
Nothing sadder than a old, liberal sheriff virtue signaling to the tar and feather masses.
FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP NOW TRYING TO ABDICATE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS DEPUTIES.
On par for a Hillary Campaign principle for his County.
Talk is cheap.

Nope, it was Peterson. He was on site, weapon drawn, taking station behind his vehicle waiting for swat

Since none of his officers entered the building, he may be correct.
What difference, at this point, does it make?
Right. And that co-worker might have been the deceased coach who was also unarmed school security.
