The UN Security Council has unanimously approved a resolution demanding a 30-day ceasefire in Syria to allow aid deliveries and medical evacuations.
However, some of the biggest jihadist rebel groups, and their associates, are not covered by the truce, raising questions about its real impact.
The East Gouta rebel enclave near Damascus has been bombarded by government forces for the past week.
After the vote in New York, activists said air strikes were continuing......
The US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, called for the ceasefire to be implemented but said she was skeptical that Syria would comply.
She accused Russia of having "dragged out the negotiations." She said "In the three days it took us to adopt this resolution, how many mothers lost their kids to the bombing and the shelling?"......

This whole exercise seems to be just more demonization of the Syrian regime along with Iran and Russia who are fighting Al-Qaeda and even Islamic State in the Ghouta pocket around Damascus.
The usual emotional videos of civilians being victimized by the battle are also in circulation. One wonders when the next story of a "chemical weapons attack" will somehow be pulled out of a hat.
Syrian, Iran and Russia don’t need to be demonized.
They are demons.
Isnt that special. The U.N. imposing its will on a sovereign country for an internal issue. Why havent they don the same here?
President Trump weighed in with condemnation of the three countries (Syria, Iran and Russia) over matters.
On the blog with a link inside the link to the video of Trump’s remarks.

Their enemies like Al-Qaeda and Islamic State in Syria are pretty demonic in their own right I would say.
Which will last for about 5 seconds.
Well, nextrush, you made me look like an idiot
but don’t be proud. It’s not that difficult :)
I JUST said in the last thread how the west isn’t reporting this.
BBC would be the west :)
everyone makes mistakes. I just make more than most
Syrian, Iran and Russia dont need to be demonized.
They are demons.

Some demons are worse than others,
e.g., the Turks, ISIS, Al Qaida,
and anything supported by the Obama regime.
Well, one thing is fairly certain. The UN always comes in on the wrong side.
All of what has been happening regarding like the UNSC resolution and the POTUS comments, though, are buried in the Friday-Saturday news window graveyard, that’s for sure.
Trump said yesterday that the US is in Syria for one reason, to get rid of ISIS and then go home. He said we’re not there for any other reason and we’ve largely accomplished our goal.
The Syria govt. is fighting ISIS & Al Qaeda and protecting Syrian minorities, including Christians and Kurds.
That John McCain & the NeoCons want us to conquer Syria and turn it over to Jihadists is not something I can support.
Don’t try crossing the Euphrates again dumbasses.
the UnitedNazis has served most only as a stage for pumping enemy propaganda into American households, for years.
Oh yes, also as an excuse that lets thousands of enemy spies and moles into America....
nothing it says or votes has any serious impact
Peace in our time.
There is one and ONLY ONE reason for ANY cease fire that is set to last for a fixed 30 days.
Re-supply.
It’s called ‘hudna’.
Peter Hitchens is very shortsighted. Disillusionment with the West in recent times does not warrant siding with Putin: someone who pays lipservice to faith and values that we have abandoned (but are slowly returning to) but whose ultimate intention is to revive Cold War realities.
Hitchens is not part of the anti-Russia crusade and he constantly wonders what the real reason behind all the animus is.........
Clowns!
As if the U.N. has any control there whatsoever.
Oh, this is nice.
I’m sure the Russians will pay close attention. And the Americans too.
The UN is a joke.
Yeah because its easy to sympathize with Putin when you are an elite Westerner with all your plush protections and living standards. Not forced to become a mercenary in Syria to make ends meet for your wife and kids because the grotesquely kleptocratic economy leaves you no other employment prospects!
Try living in Russia and immerse yourself in Russian life as I have - and see how where you stand from there. The problem is Russian people (especially middle aged to older generations) are so traumatized from their past that they don’t want to rock the boat because in their view: things could always be worse.
But vast majority sick of Syria debacle.
