Delta and United scrap airfare discounts for NRA members
CNBC ^ | 02/24/18 | Leslie Josephs

Delta Air Lines and United Airlines said they will scrap group airfare discounts for members of the National Rifle Association, joining a growing list of companies to end perks for the gun-rights group following the deadly mass shooting at a South Florida high school last week.

Delta and United were offering discounts of 2 percent and 10 percent off online fares for flights to the NRA's meeting in Dallas in June, according to the NRA's website.

Delta said that it will inform the NRA of its decision and will request that it remove the airline's information from its website. The airline emphasized in a tweet that it is not a sponsor of the NRA's event. United issued a similar statement.

"United is notifying the NRA that we will no longer offer a discounted rate to their annual meeting and we are asking that the NRA remove our information from their website," the airline told CNBC.

The NRA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Others that have ended discounts for NRA members this week include car rental companies Avis Budget Group and Hertz Global Holdings as well as insurance company Metlife.

The decision comes after 17 people were killed in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in southern Florida on Feb. 14. The outcry after the shooting has sparked public pressure on corporations who offer discounts to the NRA as well as asset managers who invest in gun manufacturers.

Its a free country.

Someone has a right not to do business with you. You have a right not to do business with them.

It ain’t personal. Its just business.

If Delta & United think they own the skies, they’re tripping.

Southwest should clean up on this; it’s already known as a nearly Muslim-free airline.

Time to re-educate them all as to WHY the NRA was formed.

Obviously the Soros crowd has researched and found any NRA corporate discounts and is running an intimidation campaign. The MSM has pounced on this opportunity to go after the NRA. They think this is their shot to marginalize what influence they have. I am not a member but next week I will be.

Tell that to a Christian baker ...

What about the AARP discounts and benefits that companies offer??? The crimes by seniors are escalating and the AARP advocates for senior’s rights. We MUST hold them equally responsible for the crimes committed by seniors as they want to hold the NRA responsible for any crimes committed with a gun, even if the gun was not legally owned. Apples and apples, folks!!! We must start boycotting any businesses the provide discounts or incentives to AARP members:

“In the U.S., data collected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation suggests that elderly crime is also on the rise. In 2000, about 58,500 arrests were made of Americans over the age of 65. By 2013, that had increased 44 percent to 84,415 arrests of senior citizens.”

This insanity is spreading! NRA had nothing to do with the shooting. Has anybody blamed the Confederate flag yet or maybe even the US flag? Why not blame the FBI?

Leery of a public backlash? From whom? The liberals?

They might just get a backlash from law abiding NRA members. Did they ever think of that?

But that is not what these companies did. They incentivized NRA members to do business with them, and then they very publicly announced they were no longer favored customers because of a school shooting. In doing so, they essentially blamed the NRA for mass murder.

That’s goes for Christian bakers as well.

When it comes to good corporate citizenship, the Left likes to have it both ways.

I am not boycotting the the boycotters, but I am compiling a list of security concerns for my family, my employees, and for myself to use to avoid being targeted by terrorists and criminals.

I believe that there is a reasonable expectation that criminals and terrorists will use this information to target softer targets in the belief that the lack of NRA Members reduces the chance of an armed response.

The boycotters will be targeted along with their customers, it isn’t safe to do business with them.

They blame the NRA and guns instead of themselves and a complete lack of self-discipline.

I worked on a Delta airlines flight ops program. They had ZERO self-discipline and spent their entire three year budget in a spending frenzy in 3 months. The CEO had to cancel the program.

Delta airlines is a typical liberal organization.
