For almost a half-hour after a school shooter dropped his assault-style rifle and escaped Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, police officers thought they were seeing his actions live on the school's security system.
They soon realized the images were tape delayed, which Coral Springs Police Chief Tony Pustizzi told the South Florida Sun Sentinel made a chaotic situation more confusing.
The 19-year-old suspect Nikolas Cruz was captured an hour later in a neighborhood about 2 miles from the school where 17 people died Feb. 14.
The newspaper reports police transmissions show that police initially couldn't get to security cameras. Sheriff Scott Israel said at a news conference he didn't know about the security system delays but would look into it.

I mean exactly that Vegas is a mob town and shooters are bad for business/tourism so many things regarding the shooting have been repressed/disappeared. We will never know exactly what happened there. The press wont push it either. We exactly live in a banana republic. Exactly.
> Somehow I dont see how a 26 minute delay would help them to delete images. There would have to be a secret system that was not delayed, it would seem to me. <
It’s possible that the school’s video feed was designed to be automatically sent out to the sheriff’s office. So yes, there’d have to be a “secret system” to intercept and erase any embarrassing video. That secret system could well be in the principal’s office.
As a side note, I spent decades teaching in an urban public school. We had cameras everywhere, inside and out.
But often after a hallway fight we were told that the camera covering that area was “broken”. So sorry, we don’t know which students to hold accountable.
The same often happened when a teacher’s car was vandalized. The camera covering the parking lot was “broken”. So sorry, we don’t know which students to hold accountable.
Another reason to close the free public indoctrination centers altogether.
I don’t believe it. They are trying to cover their @$$es
There was 24/7 coverage for days. We learned about Paddocks life, there were many videos posted by people who were there, interviews with the security guard, press briefings, photos of the room and body.
Not sure what you think was missed. The news cycle moved on, just like it will with Parkland.
.....all the delays and misreporting are directly linked to policies that Odungo and DNC operatives forced on
LEOs across the nation....their trying
their best to cover and ignore....
Cops were under standing orders to ignore teen criminal activity at the Broward school. So that the school could get federal funding, they were able to fudge crime statistics that heavily exposed Black/Hispanic crimes in order to falsely claim juvenile delinquency was down 60%!
Their crime stats went down thru manipulation and turning a blind eye to reality. Now their crime stats have gone up. Dramatically.
tick tock-—tick tock-—tick tock
Important question.
>>nobody is stupid enuf to believe this.
>>cops are situational liars.
Never underestimate the power of stupidity. The Thin Blue Line and their Jackboot Lickers are grabbing at this straw right now.
Secondly, the 27 minute tape-delay in the CCTV system is not an accident, flaw or mistake. It is entirely by design.
As a standard Broward and Miami-Dade practice, when school law enforcement need to cover-up or hide behavior, they need time (when that behavior happens) to delete the evidence trail. As such the school policy -as carried out in practice- is more efficient with a 30 minute tape delay affording the school officer enough time to deal with the situation, then erase the possibility of a recording of the unlawful activity surfacing.
Building in a 30 minute delay on the CCTV system was one of those pesky add-on items that happened a few years ago when the School and Law Enforcement officials established the policy of intentionally not arresting students. With modern technology its tough to hide criminal behavior, especially the violent stuff, when it is being recorded. Duh. Ergo the tape-delay was the best-practice workaround.
there can be no proctological examination of the utopian delusion. broward county is the ultimate example of the wonderfulness of life under the strict progressive tyranny. The delusion failed.
The county is over. Every kid in the school can find grounds for a law suit against the school system and of the dysfunctional sheriff’s failures.
Don’t you find it strange no one has talked about that executive order Obama signed?
The smirky smile on the girl’s face is troubling. Make-up all nice and pretty-like. Where are the tears, the shock, the anguish over what had happened? She says she came out of the bathroom, knocked on door to get back her classroom. Then hears the principal say to everyone to evacuate? Why would a principal do that if there was a shooting? Why not tell everyone to hunker in place? Creepy, weird. Troubling.
While security measures increase every where else, they’re softened and eliminated in our schools. The libs are definitely in charge.
And, did not the shooter realize he was in a "gun free zone"? /Heavy S
The delay they talk about makes the deputies look worse. They were watching the video thinking it was real time and did nothing. They were out side while the shooting was going on watching a video with w 2min delay which allowed the shooter to leave the school.
Delayed are real time does not matter the deputies thought it was real time that they were seeing and did nothing.
Starting with Sheriff Israel......every person even remotely connected with Broward L/E should be fired on the spot.

Seems the policy of not hiring smart people is paying dividends...
