MSNBC anchors are claiming that teachers armed with handguns would be unable to stop a school shooter because rifles shoot three times faster.
Anchor Lawrence ODonnell said on his show Thursday night that a bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun and yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter.
MSNBC ✔ @MSNBC Lawrence: A bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun.
And yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter
Stephanie Ruhle similarly asked, How does the best marksman in the world with a handgun take down a shooter with an AR-15 (bullets travel 3x faster).
Stephanie Ruhle ✔ @SRuhle Also remember that Reagan was surrounded by the secret service in 1981...yet, he was shot. How will teachers with guns protect students? How does the best marksman in the world with a handgun take down a shooter with an AR-15 (bullets travel 3x faster)
While bullets fired from rifles do travel faster than those fired by handguns, the difference comes down to a matter of milliseconds, which would be negligible in any confrontation with a shooter. In close range situations, the difference in bullet velocity matters even less.
The pair also seemingly failed to consider why handguns are standard issue weapons for police officers.
A number of Twitter users pointed out the stupidity of ODonnell and Ruhles claims.
aThirdOfDuane @aThirdOfDuane Replying to @MSNBC It would seem that drug-testing isnt a thing at MSNBC
Idiocracy
Not very many “smart” hosts on MSNBC, or CNN, or in the entire left-wing media.
So, do those hosts expect that all mass shooter, in school or elsewhere, are all going to be armed with AR-15s or any rapid-fire assault weapon?
IN any case, even if armed with an AR-15, chances are that the shooter will be very leery of any teacher or guard that is potentially armed to take him out. That fear would be enough to deter a shooter from having easy access to more than one potential victim. There is no doubt that if Cruz had known that the teachers were also armed, that he would not have killed those 17 and perhaps none at all.
Looks that way!
Law. O. decided long time ago he would report for the liberals. It is the way he makes a living. He wants a certain niche of viewers so he says anything to keep those viewers.
He didnt include the time it takes to maneuver the rifle vs a handgun. At close range a quickly aimed and fired handgun might make up the difference in bullet speed.
So true.
Two weeks ago politicians wanted to ban tide pods because teenagers were so stupid they were eating them. Now these same politicians are telling us we have to listen to the same teenagers because they are experts on guns.
This might be the best post of the week! Seriously!! I hope a Freeper who is talented in doing graphics or memes will put together something and then we can send it far and wide!!
Thank you for posting!
I cant believe im reading his idiocy right now lol wow !
Bingo...
The stupidity of the left never ends.
I am sure it’s even possible to give a more scientific breakdown that MSNBC viewers can understand. Well done.

LOL
They are making a prequel trilogy, which they should.
That would explain it.
low blow and deserved...
Maybe, but a guy with a handgun looking to take down somebody with an AR-15 shooting up a school can have a bunch of advantages like the element of surprise, ability to take cover, opportunity for tactical mobility, and experienced marksmanship that can more than offset the differences in bullet speed and impact which are important only if the assassin gets off an accurate shot at his stalker......
Is it a *requirement* to know zero about firearms when you report on them?
I remember that.
And Gen. Schwartzkopf said something about their “bovine excrement”. Lol
