Guy didn’t go in because he was a fearful pansy. If he had been former Marine, the shooter would have been dead in minutes.........

This may just do it for PsychoJoe. Gutless comment.

Anyone remember the 9/11 FDNY firefighters? They went into a building, which had no water where they needed it (floor 83-4). It would take them at least a half an hour to even GET to the fire, with no way to fight it.

Yet they went in.

Or the cop at the Pam Geller event who stopped jihadis with rifles with a Glock.

I sense that the argument is about to turn huge against the gun grabbers, who are now associated with fully blown cowardice.

He will need a “security guard” once the grieving parents fully digest this.

The officers on Steve Scalise’s detail stopped a rifle wielding assailant with pistols.

"Joes obvious purpose: defeat the "good guy with a gun" argument. "

I heard that presented last night on the FNC panel.

I have little doubt that will be the narrative for the foreseeable future.

We really don’t know anything yet about where this guy was, or why he made the decisions he did, but to Joe’s point did the security officer know for a fact it was an AR-15? Was he counting rounds? Did he recognize the sound of that particular gun?

It would be one thing if the shooter was in a perch across an exposed football field and the guard only had a pistol to fight back against him. Then you could maybe make the case it was suicide to go at him directly. I’d look for ways to flank him—something seen in every TV show/movie about combat. However, in this case, you can reasonably infer the shooter was going room to room in close quarters. One could make the case this gives the pistol shooter even odds, especially if you can get close and wait for a reload. I’m sure the LEO guy knew that MOST school shooters commit suicide when they hear LEOs getting close.

No, I’m not military or LEO, but if my job was to protect children I couldn’t live with myself if I did absolutely nothing to try to help. As crazy as it sounds, even firing rounds into the dirt (something he could do even if he was a total wuss) while the shooter was on reload could do enough to encourage him to stop (let him know people are shooting at him from a distance so he drops the gun and move on, as the shooter eventually did).

The fact he quit his job the next day and made some reference to setting up a perimeter makes me think of Doofy from Scary Movie or Frank Drebin from Naked Gun. “Nothing to see here!” Ie, pure incompetence. I hope he proves me wrong.

I cannot even imagine how much taxpayer money was spent on the camera at that school campus....10 buildings, multiple floors, 45 acre campus.

I also cannot imagine the thinking of whomever was in charge of that project or the operation of it that they had set the camera system up with a 20 minute DELAY.

Then, DO NOT tell the Sheriff or Police that there REALLY IS a 20 minute delay.

Such a system had to have cost plenty of $$$$$$, only to have it totally hinder a response from authorities. That kind of delay could have been used to totally booby-trap the entire complex and kill the responders.

IF I were that Sheriff, I would be asking for indictments of everyone who had any part in such a system.

Heads need to roll in that school district & school board.

So, Joe, should we equip schools with cannons? You know, to make sure the good guy is not overmatched.

Problem being this sheriff might be involved with the decision for the delay....he’s way too vague...I haven’t heard him mentioned it or respond to it

And he didn't go in. In part, I am sure, because he was overmatched

Doubtful, the kid has little experience, this cop must have put thousands of rounds thru his gun at the target range. the kid was shooting at fish in the barrel, doubtful he could aim at the cop instantly and take him out.

“A bullet from a handgun or a rifle is equal because of mass and its velocity. Velocity impacting flesh is the equalizer, not so much the firearm used once both are at or above an adequate and effective caliber.”

With a few exceptions this is nonsense. Wound ballistics from just about any centerfire rifle dwarf that from common defense handgun calibers.

He was outgunned, but in that circumstance and that job A MAN does the best with what he has. Often these shooters stop when they meet armed resistance. The “man” is a coward and should be shamed and shunned for the rest of his life.

Why was the officer over matched?

Possibly because there were other 'shooters' and they were heavily armed.

Why was the officer over matched? Did the officer not have a high powered semi automatic pistol with multiple magazines of ammunition? Was he not sufficiently trained in firearm combat techniques? He could take on a 19 year old mental person? When others lives were at stake?

Wouldn't he also have one other huge advantage? The shooter doesn't know where this guy is. Wouldn't that give him the chance to set up one clean shot from a semi-ambush scenario which would negate the rifle-to-pistol advantage that the shooter has?

If he's not going to use the gun in this scenario, why is the guard even carrying one? He doesn't need a gun to protect the transsexual students and other sensitive snowflakes from being harassed.
