District won’t give a damn. It’s taxpayers who’ll be screwed. But this happened on their watch, and now they’ll pay for it.

A current thread on the topic of selling kids safety for federal dollars.

14 dead students and 3 dead faculty in exchange for how much $$$$.

What price per head? How much additional funding did Broward get per year?

I bet they sold these lives for a few thousand bucks by the time you do the math.

Lawsuits and judgments need to be against individuals and not just organizations. Otherwise, the victims and families may benefit, but the taxpayers will have to pay it all. Progressive Leftists need to be sanctioned to change behavior. It would be even better if some of them could be charged with manslaughter.

“Office of The State Attorney”? Is that Pam Bondi’s office, or something else?

I wish this would happen. I would like to see those administrators begging for scraps under the expressway overpass. But the lawyers always go for the deep pockets.

IMO, the fact that the ‘security cameras’ with a feed to the Sheriff’s department is the biggest elephant in the room.

WHO in the School District administration made such a decision?

The Sheriff DID NOT KNOW that the ‘live feed’ he thought they were getting was actually a tape with a 20 minute ++ delay.

How can the Sheriff be blamed for a slow response? Everything they were working on was on a 20 min delay.

I would like to see every single person who had a hand in installing all those cameras & spending the taxpayer money to do so charged & prosecuted. Then, they not only lose their jobs, but they also lose their pensions.

IF I had cameras in my chicken house for security, I certainly would NEVER have a tape delay built into the system.

There cannot possibly be a decent answer to this set of actions by the school district. NONE.

Not only the families of the 17 dead & all the injured, but I say that a class action suit by every parent of every kid going to that school should be signing up the best lawyers they can find.

If all of this is true, how, in good faith, can these people feel that the system let them down.

It sounds as though THEY VOTED FOR THE SYSTEM.

Everyone should take a clear look at what happens when the touchy/feely people are in charge. They cause more disasters than any other group.

Just like Nellie Ohr and the revisionists explain that Stalin was not such a bad guy. I pray there are not many cities or counties like this. Or, states, like California.

I think Sheriff Israel should ride out of town while the getting is good, he’s culpable at many levels.

Bondi is the Attorney General of FL. she’s the chief legal officer of the state and is head of the Florida Department of Legal Affairs. The office is one of Florida’s three elected state cabinet posts, along with the Chief Financial Officer and Agriculture Commissioner.

Satz- is the State Attorney located in Broward.

Michael J Satz is an attorney and politician in the State of Florida, serving as State Attorney for Florida’s 17th judicial circuit, covering Broward County ...

The State Attorney serves the state’s interest as a prosecutor. It’s not clear how this will unfold when the county and state atty’s office become defendants as there becomes a conflict of interest.

I guess there will be an ingress of throngs of snowbird lawyers to mine the gold rush.

If I were going, I think I would specialize in young girls whose anxiety destroyed a once in a lifetime prom experience.

Most lawyers in south Florida are DEMOCRATS. Robert Rubinstein, IIRC, is a big TV lawyer down here and did a big fundraiser for Obama.

Morgan & Morgan is another big name Florida lawyer. Huge Democrat.

So if you want to sue, at least look to a Republican lawyer who can navigate the waters and not stab you in the back.

no Pam is state attorney general.

State attorney is the person in the area charged w/prosecution...I think they “officially” work for the state, but are locally chosen.

I may be wrong, but that is my understanding.

Morgan & Morgan would be the worst choice. If it were me, I’d look for someone from Orlando or possibly Tallahassee.

Yes, In FL, the State Attorneys are elected.

Mr. Satz was elected State Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit in November of 1976 and has been re-elected every four years since. He continues to regularly handle the prosecution of capital homicide cases and other serious crimes while now overseeing a staff of 511, including 215 Assistant State Attorneys.

So Satz is one of the most powerful SA’s in the state of FL.
