Fla. District Faces Barrage of Legal Issues in Wake of School Massacre
Education Week ^ | February 22, 2018 | Mark Walsh

The mass shooting that killed 17 students and staff members at a Florida high school thrusts the Broward County school system into a hornet's nest of legal issues including the complexities of a crime scene, the privacy of student records, and the threat of liability.

And it's fueling what could become a national debate over the proper response by school and mental health professionals for those deemed at risk of violence.

Broward school district's 8 in-house lawyers and their army of democrat outside counsel will be busy or months or even years fighting the Parkland families.

Fortunately, a local news affiliate obtained and leaked Cruz's disciplinary records from middle school: his numerous offenses include fights and unruly behavior.

In Florida, the victims and their families will have to wait for six months from the date of the incident to sue the negligent parties. The school district, Sheriff's Office, NAACP, DCF, or any other parties that enabled this school massacre will continue to circle the wagons to hide their culpability.

In my twisted mode of thinking, by the time this is done, the school district will be BEGGING to put an armed guard or two in place.

Sundance at CTH nailed this. Seems like the district swept unruly and violent students under the rug to fudge the crime numbers.

Sad but true. YUGE liabilities here. The district and school for not protecting the kids. They provided a loser security. The police and fbi for not doing more to stop this credible multiple time threat.

Please ping your Parkland -Broward list of fans to this article. tku

Hoping the Superintendent Runcie, his school board girls and their lib-lawyers are soiling their pants daily.

Ditto to all those who signed onto the NAACP Collaborative ‘SANCTUARY” discipline policy.

Pick any Dem controller city - same MO to curtail crime stats- hope it bites everyone involved in sweeping under the rug-

My opinion anyone involved from Sheriff, to school board, to administrators should be charged as co conspirators after the fact

Maybe they can use some of the money they’re spending on gun control advocacy to pay their legal problems.

The cost will be born by taxpayers, the working class.

Elections have consequences. The guilt is buried in a bureaucracy, the media is an accessory, but the shooter is the only one going to jail.

If the CNN/Jake Tapper show is indicative of the people in that district, it makes me feel happy that I don’t live there, and sad that there still are so many screaming-meemies that exist in patches of our beloved country.

Memo to all of deceased’s families, the wounded, and the tormented victims that wish to sue The Swamp of Broward County.

Find the best lawyer in the state outside of Ft. Lauderdale, and preferably outside the tri-county area. The system in Broward is one giant cesspool. I guarantee you that they will cover for each other and justice will not be served. You will likely need to appeal to the Supremes in FL or beyond to see any justice or changes to their idiocy in Broward.

Deb Wasserman-Schultz, Sheriff Scott Israel, the Super.-Runcie, the BC school board, the Broward State Atty’s office, DCF, NAACP, and the (7th) district judges all signed on to the asinine SANCTUARY school discipline program that allows criminal juveniles to remain in school and not face arrest or prosecution.

They are immensely proud of their racially designed policy —’The Stop the Pipeline from School to Prison’ and you will be tearing down their bastardized program.

The Broward progressive liberal democrat Swamp is a microcosm of Washington DC.

The paper stats looked good. That’s all that matters to most gov workers. A similar, but less deadly, case fudging stats occurred at a State crime lab in Mass. the woman in charge of testing seized narcotics was just randomly assigning results. Her immediate bosses didn’t know or didn’t care that she was clearing cases 10X more than other drug lab techs. The stats looked good.

Result. The State has to release a bunch of people from jail as the evidence used was tainted. There was no way to tell if the drug evidence was real or not.

Cross-posting from the other FR thread regarding Broward collecting Fed & State money by NOT arresting hoodlum teens for violations of the law- “Broward Cops Ignored Crimes...

1. Watch this video. People don’t understand how Broward County School Sheriff Officers operate. I’ll explain. twitter.com/BasedMonitored…
5:57 PM - 22 Feb 2018
TheLastRefuge
Comments from the Twitter feed:

2. I spent about 18 months in 2012, 2013 and 2014 investigating Broward and Miami-Dade school policies and how those policies transfer to law enforcement practices.

3. My interest was initially accidental. I discovered an untold story of massive scale and consequence as a result of initial research into Trayvon Martin and his High School life.

4. What I stumbled upon was a Broward County law enforcement system in a state of conflict. The Broward County School Board and District Superintendent, entered into a political agreement with Broward County Law enforcement officials to stop arresting students for crimes.

5. The motive was simple. The school system administrators wanted to “improve their statistics” and gain state and federal grant money for improvements therein.

this sheriff’s deputy probably should have never been a deputy. He should have found a different job long ago, but he probably thought being school security was a gravy job with little risk. This is how people, or your dog, gets shot because the cop “feared for his life”.

6. So police officials, the very highest officials of law enforcement (Sheriff and Police Chiefs), entered into a plan.
Administration, Social Services, Foster Parents, Health Services and Law Enforcement ALL KNEW and did NOTHING! Too PC. They call pure evil a “disability” and protect him over the general population

7. As soon as Miami-Dade began to receive the benefits (political and financial) from the scheme, Broward County joined on. The approach in Broward was identical as the approach in Miami-Dade. theconservativetreehouse.com/2013/11/10/bro…

The officer is a coward, the Sheriff is a fraud and complicit and the FBI is incompetent & corrupt Or They are in bed with the Dems to create a horrendous mass murder leveraging an armed mental case to push forward with removal of our guns.

The SHERIFF ISRAEL should be in prison w/ his buddies @HillaryClinton @BillClinton @JoeBiden @SenJohnMcCain @georgesoros & the rest of the greedy, corrupt, PERVERTED NEANDERTHALS!

8. It’s important to remember, this was not an arbitrary change - this was a well-planned fundamental shift in the entire dynamic of how teenagers would be treated when they engaged in criminal conduct. scribd.com/document/37191…

He’s a politician. A far left liberal. Shameful Won’t even entertain the notion that they were derelict in their duty to protect our kids. Who are we to call if not LEOS and FBI? Are we to call the local baker, or minister? Why can’t any of these govt bureaucrats admit failure?

What are the odds that Mr. Israel himself enacted a policy that forbid the officer to engage in an active situation? Not defending this officer. But I want ALL the facts. What was the policy this officer was bound by and trained to abide by?

9. The primary problem was the policy conflicted with laws; and over time the policy began to create outcomes where illegal behavior by students was essentially unchecked by law enforcement. prospect.org/article/revers…

We cannot allow the government to divert all blame on an individual if they are complicent.

Hallo this is what you asked for: threadreaderapp.com/thread/9668566… You can share this if you think it’s interesting. See you soon.
