Did the Progressive 'Broward County Solution' Cost 17 Student Lives?
American Thinker ^ | 2-20-18 | Jack Cashill

"We're not compromising school safety. We're really saving the lives of kids," boasted Michaelle Valbrun-Pope, executive director of Student Support Initiatives for Broward County Public Schools, in August 2017.

Valbrun-Pope was referring to what an article by Jeffrey Benzing in Public Source calls the "Broward County Solution." As Benzing relates, Broward County used to lead the state of Florida in sending students to the state's juvenile justice system. County leaders responded with a perfectly progressive solution: "lower arrests by not making arrests."

You’ll never, ever get any of the liberals behind it to admit to it.

This ‘Broward County Solution,’ plus the virtual collapse of the ‘Russia Russia Russia’ narrative, is why the Left is pushing the gun control angle so hard in this instance.

Whenever their schemes fail, they go ape trying to blame the failure on their opposition.

The Truth is putting on its boots.

What is the worst most disgusting thing you can think of?

The FBI and Broward Co. Sherrif did 10x worse.

Admit it? Did they not SIGN and enforce the ‘pledge’ (aka aided and abetted CRIMINALS; shielding from arrest, if not prosecution [expulsion])??

Even if levels of govt are to plead ignorance grants them no out; it’s their J-O-B for oversight, audits, validation. “I didn’t know” = dereliction of duty and, at best, means FIRED.

Unfort., we have NO Free Press. If it wasn’t for the FBI coming out to admit the F* up I suspect it would have been buried along w/ this Leftist dog-squeeze.

Yes, and I haven’t heard it discussed here (in Florida). Teachers hate it - they are forced to keep disruptive or even dangerous kids in their classrooms because of this law.

A rational person has to ask how this lunatic Cruz was visited by the police 39 times, had innumerable interventions by teachers, psychologists, government social workers, was known to be armed, made terrorist threats and nothing definitive was done. The answer is that when liberals take control of any government entity, impose their leftist progressive policies, bad things happen.

I grew up in Broward County and left in 1969 when I enlisted in the US Army.

Moved back in 1982 for a short bit and couldn’t stand living there any longer, it had changed greatly and not for the better. Left again after a year.

I live across the street from the middle school in our town - when I walk over to take a piece of misdelivered mail to the school office, I don’t get in the front door without ringing a bell and telling someone over the intercom who I am and what I want (while being looked over on closed circuit TV) - then the door’s unlocked and I get go in and complete the job - were I to ever challenge the system I’m guessing a town policeman who’s on site during school hours (and whose police car is parked prominently out front) would show up pretty quickly to check me out - there are ways security can be increased radically without a lot of added cost or inconvenience - but with a little effort and common sense.....

An interesting article and perhaps a reason why the murders last week were able to happen. I’ll send a link to Dr. Bob.

No different from the mantra of the obozo administration - lowest number of arrests at the border in xxxxx years. Yeah, that one made a lot of sense!

That’s exactly the way it should be at all school locations nationwide. Gives us some hope that others will follow suit. What idiot is going to approach a school with bad intentions with a police car sitting in the parking lot? If the cities/towns can’t do that, do what CA did many years ago in the mountains (Sacramento to Tahoe) by placing old CHP cars off the roadside which had the effect of slowing traffic down and I would presume saving lives.
