Bump stock prices have spiked following President Trump's directive on Tuesday that the Justice Department draft regulations to ban the devices.
Bump stocks can be used to allow semi-automatic guns to fire at speeds similar to automatic guns.
After Trumps proposed ban, bump stock prices quickly rose on the firearms auction website Gun Broker, Bloomberg reported.
Some bump stocks were being listed for anywhere from just above retail prices of less than $200 to as much as $1,000 with some listings having a tag that said "Get them while you can," according to Bloomberg.
Trumps decision on bump stocks comes days after a school shooting in Florida left 17 dead and 14 others wounded. Public outcry has pressured lawmakers to take action to address gun violence.
The alleged shooter in Florida does not appear to have used a bump stock during his attack with an AR-15 rifle.
We can do more to protect our children. We must do more to protect our children, Trump said during the announcement of the DOJ directive at the White House.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders at a Tuesday press briefing said the president does not support the use of bump stocks and that further action will follow.
Bump stocks became a focus of the gun debate following an October mass shooting at a Las Vegas music festival that left nearly 60 dead and 500 others injured. The shooter in Las Vegas allegedly used bump stocks during his attack.
Prices for the device also rose after the Las Vegas shooting as Congress mulled putting restrictions on them.
You mentioned criminality, not me. Go re-read my original comment.
Without question.
Bump stocks can be replaced by a thumb and a belt loop.
You’ve been on the internet too long when you checked your Fidelity account after reading that headline as
“Bump: stock prices skyrocket after president proposes ban”
I get that.
Please clarify it, then. Do you support President Trump’s efforts to ban bump stocks? Yes or no?
Agreed. There should be armed security in every school.
So you want anyone who wastes their ammunition in this manner to be a felon?

How exactly am I "harassing" someone?
Good.
Anyone who wants one should get one. Or ten.
I don’t believe in bans. Stupid.
Personally I don’t feel like I need one, because I like to carefully aim each shot, but that’s just me.
Dear Stupid Politicans,
Don’t make me into a criminal.
If pistol grips are added to the Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibition of handgun purchases prior to age 21, that would make no real difference, either. (And pre-21s might learn how to shoot more accurately.)
Trump isn't an idealogue. If he gives up bump stocks and pistol grips for teens, what will the left give up? Or will they just appear to be inflexible and uninterested in actually fixing the problem?
(If you still want to waste .223/5.65 NATO ammo, there are plenty of other ways to do it! Try searching YouTube!)
May I ask how old you are?
There seems to be a different level of understanding between the generations... and along the same lines, between political beliefs..
Also.. have you actually ever been in the military?
If not, did you ever own a gun?
I saw a report out of Denver this morning. The city banned these in January, and not one has been turned in. I doubt very many people in Denver have one to begin with, and the few that do are saying ‘Screw y’all.’
Sure. Mid fifties.
Also.. have you actually ever been in the military?
Yes, but I received a medical discharge shortly after joining.
If not, did you ever own a gun?
Dozens. I have a C&R FFL.
i DON'T know who this Stephen Griller fellow is, but if he is right, he is making a very good point!!
Why can’t we get some movement on Uranium Gate or Seth Rich murder gate this quickly???
Whatever happened to “Lock her up”!!!!!
Same here. Along with copious amounts of tannerite. It sometimes sounds like a Civil War re-enactment. I couldn't afford the money they spend on ammo.
Another bad move by Trump: things don’t look too good right now.
