I have to agree. This is the 2nd time I do not agree with President Trump. He must be hoping that Romney does not stab him in the back.
I do feel the echoes of Roy Moore here.
This time I’m going with POTUS. Thank God I don’t need to vote for MR, I will not donate but I will not talk against him if he has POTUS endorsement. Hopefully POTUS has leverage to get Romney to vote the Trump agenda.
If Romney wins in November, he’ll be almost 72 when he starts his first term next January. There are 14 Republican senators who aren’t even 55 years old. Romney will be almost 80 after just one term in the Senate!
He knows the winners. He’ll play it his way.

Trump knows that he’ll win in Utah. It’s better to soften up the beachhead now, rather than later.
He wants Romney not to support any primary challengers against President Trump in 2020, maybe even get Romney to endorse him for reelection.

The last I heard they were among the most conservative voters. Arizona gave us McCain and Flake. Nevada gave us Heller. Montana and N.Dakota have elected dems to senate.

President Trump presumes that Senator Romney is a given, as it may be, and figures that it is best to spin it as a good thing.
Of course he will endorse him. Nothing else makes any sense at all.

You seem to think there’s some secret candidate lurking that can beat Mitt in a primary. The Secret Candidate doesn’t exist. Wake up!!
Well, what else is he supposed to say? We can’t lose seats in the Senate.
Romney would likely win, anyway, but now if he wins, it looks like it is because Trump helped him.
Trump knows how to play things.
