The NYPD is being dragged down by overweight cops and the brass isnt doing anything about the ballooning problem, police sources told The Post.
We really are the worlds largest police department, said one veteran cop whos worked in Manhattan, Brooklyn and The Bronx.
Were the fattest police department in the country
because we have no requirement to stay in shape.

Police Department. The police department itself does have a responsibility to ensure certain standards for its officers. Would you be okay if every police officer was a leftist lunatic who wanted to use their authority to enforce their worldview?
Apparently the FDNY union is more interested in having functional firefighters than the police union is in having police officers who can chase a suspect or help their partners. Shouldn’t officers on the street have to meet basic fitness requirements? If they’re at a desk job, fine, have some more donuts.
Either porky or roid addled jock strutters in black gear
Silly
That arent tough as I was in my prime nor as balls
Police are publicly funded government employees. Taxpayers pay for their medical problems.
Public schools should be closed. But if they aren’t closed, students should do PE. Private schools that don’t have PE classes for students are a poor choice.
On everyone else, those who try to stay in shape pay too much in higher medical costs and premiums for those who don’t.
That's in the "No sh*t Sherlock" and "Thank you, Captain Obvious" category.
My only point was that the definition of obese is getting ridiculous.
you ####sucker lol
It is a pandemic, the number one health problem in America. The medical community is scared poopless and there is no way to stop it. It is so severe among the young they are basically screwed for the rest of their shortened lives.
Do you also think the Russians caused the witch to lose?
I am not obese LOL.
I am only addressing the measurements involved to declare a person “obese”.
The BMI is a joke.
And no, I didn’t visit your link. Don’t have to.
Obesity of a large number of people is one reason I dread flying.
Those baby boomer stats say it all—one out of three chance means in a full plane there is a good chance an obese person will be stuffed into one of your three seats.
The seats have gotten smaller while Americans have gotten larger.
And diversity hiring.
So true.
They could never prove that the perp's seeing-eye dog ever bit her.
Yep, with more “Chins” than the Chinese Telephone Book and pulling big “Cabooses”.
A friend of ours is a Sheriffs Deputy. Shes about 56 and weighs well over 200 pounds. We like her. But lets just say she doesnt inspire a lot of confidence.
On the other hand shes a wicked good shot with her service weapon.

There is room for criticism on both sides of this equation. I have watched the definition of “normal” body weight get smaller and smaller for decades - with some of the proxy measurements for a true BMI promoted when they ignore more heavily muscled people. BMI, when done as a an Archimedes principal displacement test, is very accurate. The various tape tests and the actuarial tables are jokes for anyone who carries a lot of muscle and a bit of belly fat.
However, there has also been an explosion of obesity, which I believe is at least partially driven by the carb-heavy food eating guidelines promulgated in the US. Lack of exercise makes it worse.
One reason why I am critical of the definition of “obesity” is that is says I should weigh 50 pounds less than when I graduated high school - as a 3 sport letterman. In fact, the tables show I should weigh approximately what I weighed in 7th grade.
Outlaw spoons.
Yup. How likely do you think she'll be do go for that service weapon first in any given situation, since it is her only real option?
Hence our lack of confidence.
