A chorus of Democratic lawmakers have joined the education secretary, Betsy DeVos, in calling for Congress to act after a gunman killed 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Fla.
In a letter on Friday, all 17 Democrats on the House Education Committee urged Representative Virginia Foxx, the committee’s chairwoman, to convene hearings on school shootings, describing them as a “public health epidemic.”
“Wednesday’s preventable tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, resulted in the deaths of at least 17 students and faculty,” the letter said. “Sadly, since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School five years ago, more than 430 people have been shot in over 230 school shootings.”
The letter adds pressure on Congress to address the pervasiveness of school shootings across the country, an issue that Ms. DeVos raised during an interview on Thursday with the conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
“Congress needs to be holding hearings on these issues,” Ms. DeVos said, adding: “We’ve seen, you know, lots of finger pointing back and forth. But we need to have a conversation at the level where lawmakers can actually impact the future, because going back to and putting myself in the seat of one of those families impacted, one of these shootings is one too many. And we have got to have an honest conversation, and Congress has to lead on this. It’s their job."
Senator Patty Murray of Washington, the top Democrat on the Senate Education Committee, said she “wholeheartedly” agreed with the suggestion and invited Ms. DeVos to testify.

Bet they wont say a thing about mental health, the root. These education nimrods truly believe by putting a mentally ill student in a classroom with normal kids this student will miraculously get well and excel and if the student is out of control we will just dump him in the streets because we just cant bring ourselves to report them to the police and possibly institutionalize or jail them.

In this time we need to stay calm, clear and factual. I live in California so I can speak well for what Democrats want and not a single one of the leftist friends with whom I work — and there are dozens, and they are vocal — is calling or has ever called for the removing of all guns from private ownership. If we fight them on what they’re not saying we won’t be fighting on what they are saying.
Why do democrats want to take away guns? What would that accomplish?

Wish I could find it, but I recently saw a list of quotes from about a dozen prominent lawmakers including Feinstein and Schumer and going back 30-40 years proudly proclaiming that that was precisely their goal if they could accomplish it.
Start with teaching the kids “firearms safety” in school. Maybe take an hour or two away from the “Which Gender Do I Want to Identify As” classes.
“See something, say something”. The same imbeciles who told us to say something did NOTHING and innocent children and teachers just for being in school were cut down by a freak who should have been severely dealt with. Now these same know nothings/do nothings want to pretend to do something. Government is ALWAYS the problem and NEVER the answer. Go away Betsy and FOAD liberal ghouls!
The thing is there are already far more restrictions on firearms than the 2nd Amendment allows. Each new regulation and law is just chipping away at ownership of firearms. Criminals and mentally ill people do not follow the law, so new laws would not matter- other than punishing responsible owners.
Democrats always want just one more law...the end result would be disarming citizens. Murdering people, at school and elsewhere is already illegal, no new laws needed.

Why not focus on the unconstitutional herding and brainwashing and soul-destroy system of the “Department of Edukation” forced in by communists with Horace Mann and John Dewey to drug and destroy our children, particularly little boys-—to emasculate them and drug them so they become the soulless creature and idiot, such as Cruz-—a boy without a Natural Family— and who knows how much he was traumatized before he was adopted by his adoptive parents who were really too old for raising someone so troubled and traumatized.
The “skool” System is unconstitutional and needs to be back to local control with Classical Christian curricula, the ONLY system of “true education” in the history of mankind where children embed Virtue and have the tools to think for themselves.
I am waiting for DeVos to restore our Natural Rights and eject the unconstitutional Marxist system and soul-destroying Marxist curricula that bans only Christianity and embeds Satanism/marxism in children to create useful idiots for the elite Malthusian psychopaths who want chaos so they can erect their utopia (totalitarianism where children are so dumb and ignorant, they have no free will and will “think” boys are girls, Up is Down and Evil is Good (Satanic worldview).
There is no such concept as “Gun Control”. It is as irrational as “transgendered”. Orwellian words destroy logic and reason (and is the point of the Marxist deconstruction of the meaning of words-—to destroy debate and remove logic and destroy all our Traditions and Natural Rights.)
Gun Control is only about People Control-—and so unconstitutional it is not even possible for the State to infringe on our Natural Rights which only come from God....not the State. Cars kill WAY more people than guns do but no “talk” about eliminating our right to drive cars although they are trying to even make self-driving cars so we are totally dependent on the State for even travel.
Marxists never EVER quit trying to destroy our individual Natural Rights from God. They are little beta males who are so envious and so hateful, they are trying to destroy Western Civilization since they can’t compete with the virtuous males. Same with evil, witchy women like Hillary, who can’t relate to moral virtuous males and hate them and want to dominate and control them.
We can do all of that at the same time.
You figure out how many guards and where to put them with the same process you use to determine keeping a courtroom, capital building, or a bank safe. You need to work the process before you decide the result. But we do know, without doing anything, children die.
